Hi

Before i knock on doors, does anyone know anything about the generator outside the flats on Upland Road, 3 or 4 doors up from the junction with LL (library end)? Sure it's there for a good reason. It just sounds like an idling lorry at night, so wondering how long we have to put up with it.

Thanks

It may well be a power outage of some kind - does it have any electricity company branding on it?

We had a powercut in the depths of winter once and the engineers turned up at about 10.30pm and determined they needed to dig up the road to fix it and said you have two options 1) we start digging now through the night or 2) you have a generator.

Being a considerate neighbour we went for the generator - little did we know that once you take the generator you drop to the bottom of the engineer priority list so we had what sounded like the old InterCity 125 chugging out diesel fumes for 2 days before they came to fix the issue.

    • I’d also recommend Paul for electrical work. He came round the other week to help us out with a handful of jobs (installing an SPD, new light fittings, installing a dimmer switch, a bathroom fan). His quote was cheaper than what I got from others, he turned up on time and he got the job done quickly.
    • We’d like to add our recommendation for Lukasz and team at L&L Building & Maintenance.  Lukasz has recently installed a roof terrace for us, and we’ve found him a pleasure to work with from start to finish. We contacted about a dozen recommended builders and found his quote very competitive. During the build his team delivered quality work, they were no hassle in the house at all and they kept the place tidy every day. The terrace looks great, and we’re very happy customers. What stood out in particular was Lukasz’s responsiveness, right from discussing quotes to follow-up during the build. Lukasz often checked in and was always available when we needed him.  We’ll definitely contact Lukasz again for future building work and we’d happily recommend him to others looking for a reliable builder.   Lukasz Kugaczewski L&L Building & Maintenance 07926651960 [email protected] www.landl-build.com
    • Yes, I did mention the train, which I now get from East Dulwich to Guys instead of the 40. Depends where in East Dulwich you are starting from which route is easiest! I think it is probably lack of staff rather than lack of hospitals which is the problem?
    • What can be done? How about reporting it to the police?
