Self Employed Teachers/Tutors Required for Immediate Start

We are looking for enthusiastic, creative teachers and tutors who would like between 5-20 hours of work per week doing one to one tuition work.

This is delivered in hour-long lessons at each child's home, on a weekly basis throughout the academic year.

Most of our tutors stay with us for many years, but the minimum commitment is one year. Training is provided, and the job suits teachers who are looking to either supplement their income or take a step back from/break from full time teaching or would prefer the part time hours and independence this job allows.

We also recruit university graduates with some teaching experience such as teaching English abroad, working as an assistant in a classroom environment or at university level whilst completing their masters or further PhD.

A passion for working with young people and seeing them thrive is vital, as is a genuine love of teaching. Subjects highly sought after include English, maths, science from KS1-KS5 (primary school to A-Level) and entrance exam tuition as well as those with experience teaching students with learning differences. We also run small group courses during holidays and are always looking for committed professionals to run these alongside their one-to-one tuition work.

Hours of work when available ? between 4pm-9pm weekdays as well as weekend work.

Having a car would be ideal but cycling or public transport are also fine. Must be able to reach the following locations ? East Dulwich (SE22) and surrounding neighbourhoods including Dulwich Village (SE21), Herne Hill (SE24), Camberwell (SE5), Peckham and Nunhead (SE15), Forest Hill (SE23), Sydenham (SE26), Borough and London Bridge (SE1), Brixton (SW2), Crystal Palace (SE19) and New Cross (SE14).

Starting Salary ? Hourly rate for tuition of between ?30 - ?45 per hour, dependent on experience.

    • DKH was two form entry, it is now one form entry to cope with the fact it was far more under subscribed than other schools in the area. They had actually combined year groups into single classes, 3/4 and 5/6.  When a school changes name, it’s usually because of a bad reputation perhaps the results.  The new name is dry with no history unlike its current name. It’s a very sketchy decision. It’s an expensive vanity project for someone.  What  will happen if the name change does not increase applications to the school?
    • @first mate I assume Alice made a mistake, as she removed her reaction.  I was wondering about park wardens. As I said, there was one there last night, who was incredibly helpful and proactive. As well as bringing me to the police, he caught up with a young guy on a bike who'd earlier been the victim of an attempted theft by these kids and linked him up with the police too. But I do wonder, as I've only very occasionally seen him riding around, how many they have and what hours they patrol. I've no doubt they'd be a strong deterrent if they had a better presence. They were nowhere to be seen the first time around.  Update: I've just found this: https://services.southwark.gov.uk/community-safety/community-wardens The guy in the photo at the bottom of the page was the lovely warden of last night and I've just now remembered him telling me he's based in Burgess Park. Anyway, there needs to be more of them, as I rarely see one in Peckham.
    • Some of us oldies would associate Grove with the old Grove Vale School (which I went to in the 1950s)
