Building help required for ED resident

Hello EDF

I am posting on behalf of a friend. She had a stroke last year and has been in hospital since. She is due to go home soon for the first time since last November but some essential work needs to be carried out before she can return. We are looking for local companies who can help with the following and ideally turn it around in 4 to 6 weeks. It does not need to be one company, we are happy to manage multiple business/tradespeople. I suspect this is going to be tricky to find at the moment, but the EDF is also great for recommendations, so you never know. Here are the jobs we need help with

1 ? Knock together an existing bathroom and WC to create a single tiled bathroom. Approx finished size 2.5m x 2.5m

2 ? Reposition one door (block and make good the old position) and make another door frame wider ? hang two new doors

3 ? Make good an existing kitchen. Change worktops, cupboard doors, box a few things in, maybe add new sink. Plumb in new Washer Dryer and Dishwasher

4 ? Redecoration ? Clean and prep walls then re-paint Hall, Living/Dining room, Kitchen, Stairs, Landing, 2 x bedrooms, Small Office

5 - Some additional carpentry/handy-person jobs (about 2 days worth)

Very keen to see if anyone has any recommendations

Many thanks

Robin

    • I’d also recommend Paul for electrical work. He came round the other week to help us out with a handful of jobs (installing an SPD, new light fittings, installing a dimmer switch, a bathroom fan). His quote was cheaper than what I got from others, he turned up on time and he got the job done quickly.
    • We’d like to add our recommendation for Lukasz and team at L&L Building & Maintenance.  Lukasz has recently installed a roof terrace for us, and we’ve found him a pleasure to work with from start to finish. We contacted about a dozen recommended builders and found his quote very competitive. During the build his team delivered quality work, they were no hassle in the house at all and they kept the place tidy every day. The terrace looks great, and we’re very happy customers. What stood out in particular was Lukasz’s responsiveness, right from discussing quotes to follow-up during the build. Lukasz often checked in and was always available when we needed him.  We’ll definitely contact Lukasz again for future building work and we’d happily recommend him to others looking for a reliable builder.   Lukasz Kugaczewski L&L Building & Maintenance 07926651960 [email protected] www.landl-build.com
    • Yes, I did mention the train, which I now get from East Dulwich to Guys instead of the 40. Depends where in East Dulwich you are starting from which route is easiest! I think it is probably lack of staff rather than lack of hospitals which is the problem?
    • What can be done? How about reporting it to the police?
