As the half term ends, and winter is almost upon us, our thoughts turn to sunnier times. After a fallow year due to Covid we are making our holiday cottage available again at a small cost for family and 'new' friends to enjoy.

A taster below, PM me for pictures and full details. Very family friendly but suitable for couples and groups too.

Just ?180 a week which helps towards expenses.

Built in 1870 this stone cottage is near to Huelgoat in North Finistere. 40mins from coasts, 5 mins from town

and village. Wild and less wild walks, cycling (a number of bikes are provided), wildlife, cultural stuff, smaller theme parks, tree top adventure and plenty of other activities. A gentle nine hole golf course.

Large bedroom with double four poster bed, bunks and spare single bed. Second double bedroom. Large lounge with wood burner, Bed settee downstairs and glamping in the barn! Bedding, BBQ, games, table football canoe and other stuff provided. Refurbished bathroom with large walk in shower. Comfortably sleeps six, potentially more, could take two families at a push. 1/2 an acre of land.

Ideal if you like the outdoor life, star gazing, a bit of privacy and want to avoid the masses. A minimum of a week but this can be done midweek to midweek.

[Edited to add new shower, will add some photos later]

Hello,

We are interested, have two boys, 4 and 7 years old, that like the outdoors and your place sounds nice. We have driven to Europe before brexit, considerably farther than Brittany, so it could work.

If I could have some photos of the space outside and perhaps the kitchen that would be helpful.

Many thanks

Elena

With today's news that France is opening up again some of us will be turning our thoughts to a summer holiday. Thanks to those who have already contacted me. I'm pretty flexible so there is no need for any commitment, as we wait to see how Covid pans out. It is probably a good time to arrange cheap ferry fares, most of the operators are flexible, as we experienced in both 2020 and 2021.

It would be nice to have visitors again, as many through EDF have stayed in earlier years.

Just returned from a lovely sunny few days in the cottage. Heard tawny owls and had a pipistrelle bat flying close for a few nights. The swallows had just arrived and spring flowers a plenty.

Still loads of space, I hope some of you will be able to enjoy our holiday home in coming months.

Only paperwork needed is proof of vaccination. Pretty straight forward going through passport control on both sides.

Scroll to top for more details and I'll send you full info if you contact me via a PM

Several bikes and an inflatable canoe at the cottage, games, small pool table and a proper table football 'babyfoot'!

A nice photo taken by a neighbour yesterday showing the roses in bloom. The pink ones I am particularly excited about as the rose was planted 15 years ago and until this year was a disaster. I'm cycling there with friends next week to see in person. Perhaps I should retitle this thread cheap holiday home in exchange for a bit of pruning and dead heading! Still plenty of availability for friends and new friends!

PM me for more details.

    • Just for information: I see that the Licensing Sub-committee has the Tesco application as item 1 on their 24 July meeting agenda.  https://moderngov.southwark.gov.uk/ieListDocuments.aspx?CId=172&MId=8329. The officer's report to the committtee provides a good succinct summary.  I see, from (original) p.31 of the full public pack, (or more conveniently the supporting documents) that Tesco Legal Dept on 12 June reported that they'd agreed with the police's suggested conditions to be attached to the licence, and the police accordingly withdrew their own representation.  That leaves just one representation, from a member of the public, to be dealt with on the day. I still think it's not necessarily to be presumed that Tesco will definitely be taking over the premises.  I see that Poundland themselves were granted an off-sales licence on 21 Feb 2023, and surrendered it on 3 July 2025.  I'm not sure they actually ever used it themselves.  Did they? https://www.southwark.gov.uk/sites/default/files/2024-09/Statement of Licensing Policy 2021-2026.pdf is a full statement of the policy and its application, for thems as is interested.

    • Well, quite. Do you know where your lad's going tonight?
    • I'd get rid of duty free shopping.  Nothing to do with tourist tax but something I hate.  All that glitz as you try to get through to Wetherspoons in the departure lounge.  No great savings over on line or even at times supermarkets, and the hypocrisy of selling cheap cancer sticks. Ok back to tourist tax
