Earlier today I was taking a short break from printing and laminating posters for Howerd's End, grabbing a light lunch I browsed todays edition of The Metro, then turning a page a very psychedelic Mark Farrelly made me exclaim OMG!

'Jarman of delight' a terrific interview which touches on Quentin Crisp, Patrick Hamilton, Derek Jarman and last but not least Frankie Howerd.

Mark is returning for a third time to our lovely community cafe this time for two nights on 12th and 13th January.

Frankie Howerd was one of Britain's most loved comedians for half a century. But he had a secret. And the secret's name was Dennis.

This play by Mark Farrelly (Quentin Crisp: Naked Hope) takes you to the heart of Frankie and Dennis' clandestine relationship, which lasted from the 1950s until Frankie's death in 1992. It also affords a glorious opportunity to encounter Frankie in full-flight stand up mode.

Packed with laughter, but unafraid of truth, Howerd's End portrays two humans' journey through closeness, love, grief, and all the other things that make life worth living. Come and say farewell to a legend...and learn the art of letting go.

    • Most Councillors work full time and are councillors in their spare time. Some become full time councillors with Cabinet positions. Done well these are really full time roles. Imagine trying to sort out Southwark Council Housing where only half of repairs calls are completed. Utter chaos.  The current administration introduced a lot of deputy roles with extra allowances. My lot have long argued these need to be significantly parred back.  Interestingly James McAsh has been claiming a full time Cabinet position Special Responsibility Allowance which means he must be working less than 11hrs pw or not at all in a normal job such as being a teacher.
    • It's not the same size and there are other complications with it, so we'll get an expert in. But thanks! Interesting, thank you. Didn't know there was such a thing as gas-powered fridges! But I think more than one family lived in this house when it was first built, so the upper bedroom could well have been a second kitchen back then.
    • We passed and saw the airbags had come out.  I hope no-one was injured.  Also only saw police,  not ambulances.
