For Sat 4th Dec we have an all day outing planned, see below. When you register on Eventbrite, link below, please give a phone number as it may be needed for Track and Trace. If you cannot make it, please cancel so that someone else can take the place.

Waterloo to Richmond Park. . By popular demand Jamie has created another ?Awayday? ride. Meet at Waterloo Station at 9.30. Train to Twickenham, then easy-paced ride to Richmond Park via Marble Hill and Teddington Lock and later returning to Waterloo Station from Twickenham Station arriving back about 4pm. The weather looks (a lot) better, high of 8 :). I've attached detailed instructions. Please be sure to read and inwardly digest them.

In keeping with a train theme, we will have a short train-assisted ride on Dec 4th. Nice and straightforward. Overground from Canada Water to Sydenham and ride back. We have done this a few times over the years and the great stretch of off road path is always a joy. Details:

Canada Water, Sydenham and the Waterlink Way.

Meet Deal Porter Square (next to Canada Water Library, opposite CW Station) 10am and take the Overground train to Sydenham. Taking bikes on the Overground is surprisingly easy especially at step free stations like Canada Water and Sydenham. Cycle down to Bells Green and join the Waterlink Way (Nat Route 21). Follow one of the nicest stretches of off-road path in London to Ladywell Fields, then continue to Brookmill Park and on to where NR21 meets Cycleway 10 (was Quietway 1).

Next follow CW10 through Deptford via Folkestone Gardens to the Millwall Ground. Take the path to Oldfield Grove (NR 425) and continue with this route to Greenland Dock. From there go past Tesco to Deal Porter Square. Easy 1.5 - 2 hour ride with lots of off road path. Bruce leading. Map at https://goo.gl/4DQ9Tb. Remember to bring Oyster or Contactless card (fare ?1.60) and face mask. Can also join ride at Sydenham Overground Station at 10.30am; please indicate on Eventbrite if you intend to do this. NOTE this is Sydenham Station, not Lower Sydenham or Sydenham Hill.

These rides are organised by Southwark Cyclists and are part of a regular programme of Saturday rides, more information at https://southwarkcyclists.org.uk/. Southwark Cyclists are part of the London Cycling Campaign. This ride is organised by volunteers. If you have any feedback, good or bad, please get in touch with [email protected]. • As I understand it Charlie Smith did put himself forward for selection in GG but Labour members chose someone else to represent them, Liam McGrath https://southwarklabour.com/our-candidates/   It'll be interesting to see if there are other defections - surely the Greens want a drip, drip, drip of news from now to May suggesting the momentum is with them.
    • Thanks for your feedback - we always appreciate hearing from members about their experience. The pool temperature at JAGS Sports Club is maintained at 29oC, in line with industry guidelines for mixed-use pools.  This temperature has been designed to balance comfort for lane swimmers and families. Air temperature is also monitored regularly to ensure a comfortable environment for swimmers, spectators and staff. The shower Temperature Mixing Valves (TMVs) were changed in December to improve consistency, and we hope this has made a noticeable difference. If you would like to discuss your experience in more detail, please contact us directly at [email protected] or 020 8613 6500 and we'll be really happy to help.
    • One wonders if he would have defected if he had, ahem, held on to the leadership of Southwark and whether he felt that "Labour are no longer the vehicle for social justice" during his leadership election........my how quickly things change in the thoughts of a politician 😉 I think this sums things up quite nicely: A senior Southwark Labour spokesperson hit back: “Local residents can draw their own conclusions about Cllr McAsh’s swift move from Labour leadership hopeful to the Green Party, after he didn’t get his own way. While he’s thinking about his own career, Southwark Labour are delivering for residents.” One wonders if he will stand as a Green candidate in Goose Green.
    • No doubt if he determines to stand for a ward he will enlighten us - at least his track record is one of using this site to communicate (inter alia). I would suspect that (1) his personal views on traffic will have remained consistent but that (2) his views on local democracy and proper consultation will have as well.
