They should be - email below from yesterday....

I wanted to update you on everything we are doing to keep you and our colleagues safe when you shop with us.

From today, everyone in England must wear a face covering when shopping or working in our stores, unless they are exempt.

Throughout the week we?ll be putting new signs and posters up in all of our stores and we will have greeters and security guards at the front of our supermarkets to support our colleagues as we help everyone get used to the new rules.

We continue to thoroughly clean trollies, baskets and checkouts and, as an extra precautionary measure, we have increased the fresh air circulating to make sure our stores are well-ventilated. We will of course also make sure there is plenty of hand sanitiser available as you come in and out of our shops.

We are doing everything we can to keep everyone safe this festive season ? thank you for your ongoing support.

Best wishes,

Simon

you have food in your stores that has no covering on it and is vunrable? its been like that for years even before covid . many times ive been in yours and other stores aka tesco sommerfields etc . with flys on the exposed bread rolls cakes etc ?

Was in today, didn't see any greeters at the door, but tbh not a problem for me. Didn't see anyone cleaning trollies, baskets or checkouts either.

Only saw this during second lockdown in Morrisons and that didn't last long there at the time.

What was noticeable was that the deli counters have now been removed and replaced with a "humunges" chilled wine fridge, hot takeaway heated section and a general quick food section (sandwiches, crisps, drinks etc).

During last lockdown, security staff at doors were reminding people to wear masks, One guy got very angry and was aggressive to staff and a few customers and said he was not going to wear a mask. He challenged everyone to make him and then said he was exempt.

I have seen a few people wearing lanyards saying that they were exempt for medical reasons- perhaps this should be mandatory for 'genuine' people.

Do Sainsbury's sell uncovered cakes? I'd always be very wary as you're really trusting people to have washed their hands before handling said cakes.

I've seen people pick them up and put them back down again.....

I don't like Sainsbury but I think they are all much the same - they don't pay their staff well enough to go above and beyond.

Waitrose is generally a bit better.

As for cleaning trolleys and the like - it is a good thing they do it but to be on the safe side, use alcohol gel after using them and/or wipe down yourself before use. Picking up Covid from a fomite deposited on a hard surface and then transferred to one's eye or nostril, etc. is unlikely, as it is mainly transferred from one person to another through breathing the infected person's exhaled breath at closer quarters (hence the need for space between people and good ventilation to dilute the concentration of virus particles).

You can buy these Lanyards online - no test that you are genuinely exempt. it's a self exemption test.

If you are medically excempt from wearing a mask.

You possibly for health reasons, need to wear it more than others,

I have asthma and carry lots of medication, and find masks a pain.

I cannot breathe, steam up, cant see etc.

But rather struggle with a mask than covid.

    • I cannot remember who ran/organised the original ED LETS. They had meetings at the ED Community Centre every so often. I think there were about 20 - 25 people involved.
    • That looks consistent with what I saw when I checked a few weeks ago, after someone raised a fresh thread asking about the progress.  I was about to post here asking if anyone could help with what seemed a bit of  a  mystery.  The planning register didn't show the application as decided.  I couldn't find any minutes of the committee meeting that James reported on last year, or any mention in any other minutes of the application.  The meeting was itself  flagged in the meetings schedule as MOVED (presumably to another date).   Incidentally, I remember one of the atttached planning documents being a report on the financial prospects then pertaining.  As far as I understood and remember it seemed to show the construction for sale of the buildings a ? poor prospect for the investment.  I'm no expert though.
    • Hi sue  so this year I think I fed them a tomato food but only probably three to four times in the summer  don't over water them  I put mine outdoors in about march depending on the weather as long as there's not going to be any frost and bring them back indoors September october-ish or when I think the frost is coming
    • What do you feed it with? Just a general all purpose feed? Clearly I am doing something wrong with mine! They flower every year, but they don't have anything like that amount of flowers!
