camberlou
I need to get to Clapham Junction tomorrow and back on Sunday.According to National Rail and TfL, I can just get the Overground at Peckham Rye (every 15 mins, takes 20 mins).According to TfL weekend engineering updates, there is a bus replacement rail service. How do I find out which of these is accurate? And any thoughts on how long a bus replcement service or No 37 might take early afternoon tomorrow? Thanks Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/29907-how-to-find-out-if-overground-is-running-this-weekend/ Share on other sites
Lowlander
? Both NR and TfL say it will take 31 minutes with two trains via Victoria or 48 minutes by bus replacement service? camberlou
How strange. What are you looking at?I want to avoid a central london ticket price, hence using the Overground. Here's the links:http://ojp.nationalrail.co.uk/service/details/EDW/CLJ/tomorrow/1400/dep?id=1&fareId=2&return=false&callingPage=tf&realtime=false&alternatives=false&offpeak=false&url=/service/times/EDW/CLJ/tomorrow/1400/dep&saved=falsehttp://journeyplanner.tfl.gov.uk/user/XSLT_TRIP_REQUEST2?language=en&execInst=&sessionID=0&ptOptionsActive=1&itOptionsActive=1&imparedOptionsActive=1&ptAdvancedOptions=1&place_origin=London&place_destination=London&show_origin=East+Dulwich&show_destination=Clapham+Junction&type_origin=stop&type_destination=stop&itdTripDateTimeDepArr=dep&datepicker=Tomorrow&stepfree-access=no-requirements&routeType=LEASTTIME&includedMeans=checkbox&inclMOT_2=on&inclMOT_1=on&inclMOT_0=on&inclMOT_4=on&inclMOT_9=on&inclMOT_7=on&inclMOT_8=on&inclMOT_3=on&trITMOTvalue101=60&trITMOTvalue=20&trITMOT=100&changeSpeed=normal&name_origin=1001090&name_destination=1001069&itdDate=20130309&itdTimeHour=14&itdTimeMinute=00 Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/29907-how-to-find-out-if-overground-is-running-this-weekend/#findComment-623204 Share on other sites
ianr
To possibly add to the confusion, here's my first take:The TfL weekend engineering text report (select the Overgound link) at http://www.tfl.gov.uk/tfl/livetravelnews/realtime/track.aspx?offset=weekend says just Sunday closure afaics. Checking Sunday timetables, on both TfL and National Rail sites definitely shows replacement buses needed , from East Dulwich, so presumably no Sunday service on our line either. The icon shown for Overground on the TfL timetables (a brownish LT sign) may be confusing. It doesn't signify a bus. Their icon for that is bus-like.On a good day with lightish traffic, I've got from East Dulwich Grove to Clapham Junction or back in half an hour or less. It's easily stretched to three quarters of an hour, maybe sometimes more, if dense traffic. camberlou
Many thanks, ianr.I'd missed that the bus replacement is Sunday only.I've been burnt a few times by not spotting the little bus icon and arriving at P Rye to find signs up about replacement buses. Thanks for taking the time to help.
