Not sure if this belongs in Family or 'Recommended' but here goes....

If you're looking for a novel and creative idea for a kids party, I can highly recommend a place called Colour Makes People Happy (it's an anonymous looking shop next to Kwik Fit, bottom of Elsie Road). My daughter went to a party there not long ago and a friend reminded me about it today. They have a big rotating drum where you can create 'spin art'. The kids clearly loved it and produced some great artworks. And the place itself is like a tardis, it just keeps going with room after room, one of those quirky East Dulwich spaces that reminds me of Blue Mountain Cafe in its early days.

Yes, I assume so

I think similar sort of cost to All Fired Up.

Each child gets to create a piece of spin art - on a sheet of paper maybe 4ft x 2ft? They look pretty cool.

they serve hot chocolate and waffles, and there's a room towards the back with a good sized table to eat cake etc. There's a little kitchen. At the very back is a room that's a private cinema. Maybe you can ask to show your own choice of film there, I don't know. Very quirky and laid-back place

We had our sons 5th birthday there today.

Can't recommend it enough. Simon who owns the place was great with the kids. The painting was enough excitement to keep their attention and lots of space if they need to run off a bit of energy.

Probably don't wear precious clothing but the paint is washable.

    • Ha ha that's hilarious - how wonderfully embarrassing for Reform!
    • Closing down completely. The lovely people there are all retiring. Thanks, but Deptford is a long way to go to make two journeys to  take and collect a car! Do they not do even relatively minor repairs if it fails its MOT first time? Then that would require four journeys 😭 Wondering if there's already a thread on here for garage recommendations? People on my road WhatsApp group have recommended some local ones. I'm particularly gutted because apart from the lovely people who worked there,  Dell was a five minute walk for me!
    • I did think that might be the reason, but five years out of seven it's going to be a weekday (I think. Not sure how leap years might affect things!)
    • Probably because the 5th was a weekday. We still have the weekend to come. Also, some fireworks going off nearly every night for the last few months. Last night something was being let off that made a very deep booming noise every 10 seconds or so. That said, if the general public are beginning to see the harm done by firework noise and choosing to use low noise options and refusing to support organised events that still use the full throttle type, I for one would be very happy. Does anyone know if the Herne Hill Velodrome Halloween fireworks event used low noise options?
