Speaking to GP at forest hill rd yesterday , told that she couldn't refer me for the CT scan that was required after the ultrasound scan I'd had was unclear.

Instead I'm being referred back to ST Thomas's where I had surgery 10 years ago.  Surgery could be linked to issue under investigation so I can see logic of this. But don't understand the clear " I can't refer for a CT "

is that the case(some?) surgeries can't refer for CT scans? Am I being dense ?

It is the case that hospitals generally do not accept direct referrals for CT scans from GPs.  The GP has to refer to a hospital specialist who can then request any further imaging that might be needed.  It's not just about cost, there are other factors involved.

It might be worth contacting PALS at King's to confirm. Maybe GP prefers hospital to interpret scan

    • Apologies on the tardy reply, but thank you everyone for your responses and suggestions! Unfortunately I couldn't attend the recent EDF drinks because of work (I know right). But will absolutely keep eyes peeled for the next one and try and come down!
    • Because of the weather which delayed completion with roofer only being able to work certain days, it was up from November - end of January. Went slightly higher than gutters (we also had guttering replaced).
    • It's tough being a courier and the pay which is largely based on the number they deliver is miserable. Hence the staff turnover is high. EFRI was previously branded as HERMES but they had to create a new brand name because of poor performance. We get regular courier deliveries and EVRI are by far the worst. They just drop the parcel at the front door - often without ringing the bell. But worst is when they deliver to the equivalent door number on LL instead of ours on EDG. Best are ParcelForce, DHL and DPD by a wide margin.
    • I know the couple you mean, and she has always been friendly and smiley when delivering to me, but obviously in a hurry, for all the reasons outlined in the thread. My gate is always open, however (unless someone coming to the house closes it when they leave). I can't see the point of gates that have to be opened and shut again every time someone comes to the house. It just seems a waste of time, and it's annoying if you are carrying stuff. And a closed gate  conveys a sort of "my house is my fortress" feel. To me, anyway.
