Emergency Alert. A number of bridges in central London have been closed as a precaution while officers assess an unattended item in the vicinity of South Bank.

They are:

Westminster Bridge

Waterloo Bridge

Hungerford and Golden Jubilee footbridges

At 10:16hrs on Tuesday, 15 February police were alerted to an unattended item in the vicinity of South Bank.

Road closures, including Westminster Bridge and Waterloo Bridge, are in place while an assessment of the item is carried out.

Pedestrians and motorists are advised to use alternative routes.
