I'm a competent plasterer. For small patches I use the rapid tubes of polyfiller. The solvent based stuff goes on smoothly and sets fairly hard. The water based dry stuff is dreadful, but actually mixes well with proper gypsum plaster giving the best of both worlds for small jobs. For larger repairs gyproc easifill is a great new product, sands well although a bit soft

I still need to use the proper stuff from time to time. A 25kg bag is too large and will end up going off. Anywhere round here split bags for sale to DIYers?

Thistle do 7.5kg bags ... ?9.99 in toolstation ... https://www.toolstation.com/thistle-one-coat-plaster/p65753

Go to a builders merchant and you can buy a full 25kg bag for around ?8 - ?9

I store cement in my cellar with some silica gel sachets to absorb moisture and then swathed in cling film and carrier bags, does the job and lasts for ages

When I lived in Liverpool a local builders merchants split the 25kg bags, say into 5 x 5, charging equivalent of maybe a four quid each, giving them a tidy profit and a convenient size for small users. A long way to go and I doubt if the merchant, more of an Akwright (probably even did four candles) still exists!

    • There was a Saturday afternoon crowd of enthusiasts, and at other times the owner might have been off acquiring stock. He also repaired air guns, which he also sold. He stocked edged weapons, uniforms, including antique uniforms, air guns and ammo and starting pistols and shot. Some medals and other militaria. Quite a lot of ex service chit chat on a Saturday. I had an amateur interest, didn't deal a lot, in English pattern swords and other mainly 19th century militaria. And made some good purchases there. I'm afraid WWII and later events was the major focus of most of the regulars.

    • Why would mice move? It’s not so much they move as multiply and spread    copy and paste rather than cut and paste  mice can and should be dealt with.  But not easily or with guarantees  i would say most people in se22 reading this have mice. Whether they know it or not
