Cat run over on Crystal Palace Road

Unfortunately I just witnessed a ginger cat get run over just up from 142 Crystal Palace Road.

The cat is not alive and the driver didn?t stop. A white SUV going 40 MPH!!

I have moved the cat to the side of the road.

Poor thing, I wonder if it?s the same ginger cat seen on Ulverscroft lately, mentioned recently in another thread.

There is a nursery and a speed bump very close to there. Seriously reckless driving if really going anywhere near 40mph!

It?s common place on that road now, just a short cut from congested high st/LTNs from what I can see whenever I walk down there.

When you say moved hopefully that means any owner's been found/ someone's taking to vets for microchip check/ local doors knocked on to find owner?

Yes, we did all of the above.

I called the rspca and they said to call the council as it was dead. They then collected it and checked for a microchip

I had a few neighbours helping me as I was just working in a house on the road.

Was it the council who checked for a microchip and were you able to contact the owner?

Perhaps the strangest reason to oppose LTNs - that they encourage large vehicles to speed endangering cats and others

Oh how sad. We regularly see/saw that cat when walking back from nursery. What a dangerous and heartless motorist.

What awful news, I think that certain ginger cat used to visit me all the time, always with another ginger cat with them, but I've only been seeing one and was worried where they were.

Is there a way to know who the owners are, to see how they are?

There?s a ginger cat I?ve seen which seems to come from the flats opposite the DMC surgery.

However the cat could have been using those flats as a cut through from the back gardens of the houses behind, on Ulverscroft.
