Piano, Violin, and viola teacher at SE22

Recommended Posts

Welcome to my post ! I am Leo, a piano and violin teacher in East Dulwich.?

Under a holistic approach to music, my students will learn technique, music theory and develop their musicality at the same time. Lessons materials are chosen from a wide range of classical to modern repertoire. I encourage my students to imagine the piano as a microcosm of an orchestra and think about how the sound of different instruments can be heard from the piano. Generally, I don't encourage the use of one music method book for my students once they have passed the beginner stage. Experience has shown that every student develops their musical taste and skill differently, and learning is most effective when they play the music that appeal to them. For the younger students, I have custom-arranged pieces with colourful?pictures to?capture their attention. For the more advanced and musically inclined students, I encourage them to proactively look for pieces that they would like to learn, or pieces for which we can develop a learning plan to get them to the required level. The approach to learning violin and viola is slightly different to piano as more emphasis on the technical training is needed due to the nature of the instrument itself. Regular practice is an integral and important component of learning music for all students. I will help my students to develop an effective practice strategy. My lessons include online support in-between lessons.?

I teach from the beginner level to Grade 8. My students have successfully applied for the music scholarship at Kingsdale Foundation School. I have over 30 years of orchestral experience. I have achieved Distinction at the diploma level (AMusA). Please do not hesitate?to book a free trial lesson with me or contact me to discuss further if you are interested. You are welcome to whatsapp or call my number at 07477633088, or email me at [email protected]. References are available. I look forward to hearing from you !

I would like to recommend Leo as a piano teacher. I?ve taken up piano again as an adult after a long hiatus, and have found Leo knowledgeable, encouraging and clearly passionate about music. As an example, there?s a particular piece (Chopin) I wanted to tackle for a while ? Leo guided me through it, addressed my weaknesses with targeted exercises and praised the improvements I made. He is flexible, fun to learn with, but not afraid to push you when you need it.
Leo is a wonderful teacher who has been extremely dedicated teaching my daughter violin. He makes the lessons fun and engaging, starting from music theory and allowing her to progress in a way that suits her style of learning. I have deeply enjoyed the lessons myself and am very grateful to have found Leo; he is so devoted to ensuring my daughter develops, and she is thriving with his support. Thank you, Leo!

Hi - I saw this thread while searching for a violin teacher for my daughter and we called Leo to see if they were a good fit together.

I was absolutely amazed by the quality of his teaching. He assessed her (she had recently done grade 3) and he was able to show her how to hold her bow correctly, how to position her fingers, he fixed her neck rest, and so much more. By the end of the session she was playing noticeably better. We are absolutely going to continue lessons with Leo and I cannot recommend him highly enough to others who are looking for a violin teacher.

    • Ohh dear.  Fireworks can be great fun.  Where I used to live the kids would have firework wars/games.  Watching them was more enjoyable than watching  TV. (Which you could hardly hear due to the pops and bangs).  It's not like anyone/anything could stop them. I would still prefer organised public displays that are affordable.   And I agree that fireworks cause problems for wild life, pets and people.   It seems to be one of those things that just happens so we have to put up with it.  But it is still not as problematic here as in other areas in London - that's for sure.
    • I made sure to set off a few today just to rile you guys up 😇😂 Always looking for something to criticise
    • Ugly...maybe..does it bother me..NO! I think its somehow reassuring to see theres still phoneboxes around. East Dulwich may  be getrified but there may well be some elderly people who don't have mobiles and kids who may have lost theirs adults ditto etc etc. I'd rather keep it than lose it...just because i don't use it does'nt mean its not needed.  there are many eyesores in the modern world not all of them as potentially useful.
    • I strongly recommend Balayage salon in Lordship lane as everytime I visit, they make me feel very spicial with thier profisionalism and care.   I have been going there for the last 10 years maybe more, and will never exchange them for any other. They are profisional, welcoming and they also always have an offer. I feel like a new woman every time. X
