I?ve had to call the builders in again to do some more work on the house. They seem to start very early though - sometimes when I get up at 6 they?re already there in the kitchen drinking tea? I?m not quite sure what time they finish either as their van is often still in the drive even when I?m going to bed.

I think you once mentioned Bob that your wife is from farming stock, therefore she will be used to waking up very early with the Cock, I realise you've probably tried hard to make her feel more at home in London with your attire of Cotton Trader's check flannel shirts and mustard jumbo cords, but I'm afraid those along with the early morning dulcet tones of Ken Bruce are a very poor substitute...

Bob

It's obvious

Mrs Buzzard is obviously cooking them breakfast and trying hard to make sure they get their sausages in before the heavy humping for the day starts.

I would be more worried if Mrs Buzzard was complaining that her eggs were fertilised whilst making breakfast.

I suspect that the builders also have a mattress in the back of their van to facilitate an over night session when they have an early start to their errection work 😉

Not confusing at all Sue, Bob is obviously the 'comedy' account of a well known forumite who seems to have at least 3 personalities

Maybe when he / she is CN150, they are all being treated by her for multiple personality disorders at the Mausdley (oh yes they are , oh no they aren't)

Regardless, keep on posting Bob as it's part of your therapy

My builder has told me my internal walls need planing as they?re not as flat as they should be - had anyone else had this done? Basically it involves hacking off all the plaster, replastering, and redecorating - and his company can do that all for me, so I don?t need to bother looking for other people. And it should last for at least 5-7 years before it needs redoing (they offer a free 5-year rechecking service too!)
Th builder also said he thinks my house should be Grade II listed and that accordingly he?ll have to take longer with the wall planing which will cost more? He says you can tell it should be listed as the trusses in the loft are very old - Elizabethan or Jacobean maybe? You can tell because they?re dark hardwood. I?m a bit miffed my solicitor didn?t note this possible listed status during the conveyancing - that was 11 years ago though, so it?s probably too late to do anything about it now though?

    • It wasn't an antique and bric-a-bac shop but an antique market with a number of different traders, the cafe supported all the dealers in bringing in custom, and was good enough to generate trade for them. It was Rodney Franklin's and his partners enterprise, he previously had an antique shop in Queenstown Road in Battersea. His late wife ran the cafe (she was a very fine actress, it was a 'resting' job).  It was on the corner of a junction on the left as you head towards Camberwell. And almost opposite, if memory serves at all, an MFI style furniture outlet.
    • i used to go there in the late 80's and '90s (?) the food was served cafeteria style and there was limited choice, but what there was alays tasted amazing!  The garden was an absolute paradise, you could sit in it to lunch in the summer!  i've tried to locate its site but Walworth Road has changed so much since then - does anyone remember the house number?
