Great Knits by little fingers

Recommended Posts

Hi,

Last September I started to teach a small group of 8 year olds to knit which has been a great success - the girls are still with me and come religiously once a week for an hour's lesson. It's been brilliant to see their lovely creations grow week by week. I would really love to expose more children to this amazing craft every week. I have been very fortunate to have been offered a work space at Captured on the Rye (thank you Lorraine) on Mondays from 4-5pm and if anyone has any ideas/suggestions of how to bring a small group together on a regular basis I would be grateful. Let's bring this wonderful craft back into the limelight!

Thanks for any suggestions and ideas in advance.

My youngest student is a boy of 6 who knits every week. The size of the group of children depends on their age. Obviously the younger the smaller the group. Bear in mind the child must really want to learn and not because you want them to.

And yes I would be happy to come and teach from your home. I look forward to hearing from you.

Just like to say that Yasmin is a real enthusiast and great with the kids....if only I had the patience! My 8yr old boy will now pop off to knit to relax or calm down...and is already creating things to keep his motivation going.

Hi, how young is too young to knit? You mention that your youngest student is 6. My daughter is 5 years (& 3 months) old and has begged to learn to knit from at least 3 years old but I can't knit, she'd love this if not too young?
