Since this place re-opened I've become a big fan. The staff are so nice and friendly (makes a change from hostile E European service in other cafes, there, I said it, so shoot me). Can't really understand why the food is so reasonably priced, especially as the cafe is on Lordship Lane and the rent must be very high. Food is always good quality and the coffee is really really nice, it totally beats Caffe Nero hands down. Well done Johnnie's cafe.

The people that run it are nice & the food is fine.

But what's with the TV on all day & you can't see the blackboard. There's a strange shaped counter covered in Cookie jars, the girls behind it look lost.

Lastly, cafe owners sitting up in the corner puts me off.

It needs a tweak as it's lost its mojo.

Too vanilla now, which is a shame.

    • Greg is a massively skilled, talented, meticulous, careful and lovely man who can turn his hand to anything and make it beautiful. He's decorated many rooms in our formerly tatty old house, fitted a beautiful (and very complicated) bathroom, and taken on some fairly serious building jobs including structural ones implementing an engineer's design. He solves problems, works openly and collaboratively on plans, and his standards are impeccable. He's also a lovely guy to have around. I'd have him back and recommend him to anyone, with no hesitation.  By way of further testimonial, he's ended up doing work for half our street through neighbour recommendations and EVERYONE who has used his services is delighted.
    • Thanks very much, it's helpful to know who takes them 🙏
    • They are leaning in from the verge and chopping branches from the trees they don’t like the look of. These are people who mowed their lawns twice weekly during NoMow May, and treat all wild flowers and plants as weeds. They can’t be convinced otherwise. I wish the Dulwich Estate would promote biodiversity more proactively, instead of merely paying lip service.
