Is it just me or is there something a little weird about how advertisers show their house "sets" for different products?

A prime example is adverts for vacuum cleaners/ carpet cleaners where the sofas are covered in crumbs and pet hairs or there is a big pile of dirt on the carpet.

Obviously the fake family are so messy that they need the product but most real people don't have homes like that (or do they?).

Other examples are massive luxury kitchens in food delivery or food kits adverts or bathrooms bigger than the inside of the Tardis for toilet cleaners

All quite surreal if you ask me.

I think you're well aware of what these evil bsta4s are up to Spartacus. Fancy a trip down semiotics lane?

SpringTime, are you trying to say they are selling me a dream.

Well no thank you very much the one where I go to work naked is bad enough hence why I don't go out much KidKruger or Socalise DR as I don't want that dream expanding into a naked trip to the pub (let's be honest absolutely no one would want to see that)

No thank you indeed, one bad dream at a time is enough for me

    • As a slight woman in my mid 60's who's an avid walker I find these reports really upsettting and to be honest they put me off the idea of walking around the area for relaxation and pleasure like I used to. Most disturbing is the report of them threatening to kill someones dog and trying to kick it- I'm streetwise having been born and brought up in Notting Hill long before it was gentrified, and I lived in NYC for awhile in the 80's but there was'nt this senseless nastiness attacking and intimidating people for 'sport' that there seems to be now. Not long ago I had two females on a 185 bus just pushing me and cussing me for no reason whatsover-I confronted them about it and they carried on and started threatening to kill me...I honestly have no idea why. probably Just trying to intimidate me..another passenger advised me to get off because he could see they were jabbing me in the side and pushing me around-I did get off and realised I was actually really shaken up and scared they'd followed me. I dont know why there is so much anger and hatred in the world it saddens me.
