I'm a little lost. Why are you planning to give your estranged kid a sports car? Sounds more Hollywood than SE22 to me. More appropriate/sensible things, a lap top or tablet for example? Sorry if I have misunderstood.

I think barging in/surprising people is rarely a good tactic .

Could you write them a letter ?Maybe talk through the contents with someone you trust first ?

As others have said ,don't give up hope .14 is still very young ,and an emotional age .There are years ahead to rebuild and have a relationship .
