Hello everybody, I am posting on EDF as this crime should have a wider audience.

Yesterday around 10.30am Grant's van was stolen.

White van, with all the stock and all his belongings. Please keep an eye out!!

The lovely fishmongers who comes up from Hastings every Thursday has had his van robbed as he was delivering to our elderly neighbour. He normally trades parked outside WHSmiths by Forest Hill station, his fish is super fresh (being the catch of the previous day)

Vehicle 1

Colour: White , Make: Ford transit custom, Model: Custom / Fishmongers van, Year: 2017, Type: Van, Reg. No.: YS17 MZE, Other: Westwood park

UPDATE: Some time later someone spotted the van parked in Sydenham, they contacted police but by the time the force arrived (2.5 hours later) the van had gone. The thieves had come back to swapped number plates and drove off. Chance of finding it is now zero. Insurance will cover part of his losses but only a marginal fraction. He will be able to borrow one of his relatives vans to use next week. So next Thursday he should be parked in his usual spot with a different van. Please support him as much as you can. This was a terrible blow for a small business like his, he has lost a fortune and all the tools for his job. His fish is always super fresh. I regularly get sushi standard tuna and salmon from him, live crab and dressed crab when available. He literally brings over fish that was came off the boats the previous day and is very reasonably priced. His local cod is divine, could stay in the fridge without stinking for 4 days! Please if you like fish try him and support the trade of a true self made hard working.

    • There's not enough people talking about this - I've often worried about it too  One busy staff's mistakes will not make my pockets lighter, thank you very much. Thanks Sue and all the best for the new year.
    • I don't want to name a shop, but I have twice at this busy time of year had an issue, and yesterday was overcharged when buying a number of small things. If you are using a shop which doesn't give an itemised receipt, or doesn't give a receipt at all, just be aware that it might be a good idea to check that you are not paying over the odds (and if using cash, that you are given the right change for what you handed over). When staff are busy they might make mistakes.
    • As I had a moan on here about the truly abysmal Christmas meal we had at The Cherry Tree last year, I am redressing the balance by saying we had a really excellent Christmas meal at Franklins last night. Every course was absolutely delicious and  really well cooked. The staff were lovely despite being exhausted and run off their feet. In particular, my sea bass was a large portion and cooked to perfection, in stark contrast to the small dried up portion The Cherry Tree provided, from which I was barely able to scrape a teaspoonful of flesh (that is not an exaggeration). And our Franklins meal cost less than half what we paid at The Cherry Tree (to be fair, that was on Christmas Day so the Cherry Tree costs would have been higher, but that doesn't excuse the appalling quality meal). Thank you again to Franklins for restoring our faith in eating out at Christmas!
