BBC News - Lab-grown meat and insects 'good for planet and health'

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/science-environment-61182294

Whilst I get the environmental impact of changing from animal to lab grown meats, knowing how much rubbish* is added by the food industry to processed foods, could we trust them to supply lab grown meat without it being adulterated ?

* preservatives, hidden fats and sugars, colouring and flavouring

Of course I would. I doubt a new firm with an avowedly save the planet ethos would dodgeify their new products. I?d trust UK and European versions of such meat more than US or Asian ones simply because on the whole we have more stringent rules. I?m not a believer in making monsters out of new technology providers but I?m still cautious. I heard a vegan man who?d not had meat since 1971 day he?d eat this type of meat as it?s not causing harm to animals nor emitting lots of methane or carbon and not acting as a hothouse for future animal-to-human pathogens.

    • The empty shelves is well reported, but the sewage smell has been awful for weeks if not months, and just keeps getting worse. It started off near the Costa machine/ behind the delivery and collections booth thing, but now it hits you the second you walk in the store. I’m amazed nothing (visibly at least) appears to be going on to fix it. Somewhat relieved it’s not just me who can smell it!
