Oxygenation pond plant Free, hornwort

Recommended Posts

Hi, weekend pond clearance... have batches of Hornwort (I think that's what it is). Taken from healthy fish pond which has newts too. Needed some clearance so fish could swim!

Message if anyone wants some.

Info from plant site below:

Planting Depth - Suitable for shelf depth 14-22cm (approx 6-9?) below water surface. Suitable for shelf depth 23-44cm (approx 10-17?)Suitable for shelf depth 45cm+ (approx 18?+)

(Drop into your pond/container pond at any of these depths)

Colour - Dark green/black or olive green brush like foliage dependant on time of year

Flowers - N/A

Aspect - Sunny/Partially Shade

Origin - British Native

Care Tips - Allow Ceratophyllum demersum (Hornwort) to grow until you have 30% of your pond volume filled then remove some by hand - take out the clear stems not the dark green/olive brown stems in summer months.

Extra info - The bulk of Hornwort will drop down to the bottom of the pond in winter & break down to small buds to protect itself from frost and ice. In a new pond, the stocking rate of oxygenating plants should be 2/3 portions per m? of surface area.

    • Well I don’t approve for a shop doing the same food to open so near - just wrong in my opinion. Why not go to the village, Peckham - foot fall would be great in Peckham and certainly more multi  cultural than ED. Village has money but doubt foot fall would be as good as ED.  At least they could have gone to the stretch leading up to Peckham Rye or why not bottom of Barry Road?? Or even North Cross Road I for one, on principal won’t be going in.
    • Heh yeah haven't even bothered to remove the emdash. The OP is AI slop as well.
    • The street directory is on Ancestry and you'll need a subscription to access.  It's reasonably easy to navigate though you have to find the page you're looking for by a combination of trial and error/guesswork.  https://www.ancestry.co.uk/imageviewer/collections/61265/images/47056_263021009499_1592-00159?usePUB=true&_phsrc=Soz1793 There is though also a general search page for London directories where the street name can be entered in the keyword field and results will take you to the specific pages. https://www.ancestry.co.uk/search/collections/61265/
