Greenwich to Royal Docks.

Flat 3 hour, 13 mile ride so pretty easy-paced. Lots of Thameside and dock-side path or quiet streets. Start 10am, aim to finish 1pm at Cutty Sark. Start location: Greenwich Station. Meet at main entrance on Greenwich High Road, near the Novotel (not DLR station entrance or on platform). OR meet at tunnel exit at Island Gardens at 10.15 (for people happy to carry bikes down/up steps at Greenwich Foot Tunnel, or who can ride directly to Island Gardens). Please indicate on the registration form if you plan to join at Island Gardens. Leader Jamie.

Route. To begin we will take the DLR to Mudchute (bring face mask and travel pass or equivalent). Then east side of Isle of Dogs to Blackwall, East India Dock Basin, Lee flyover cycle path, Royal Victoria Dock, Excel Centre, Royal Albert Dock, London City Airport. Start return over Sir Steve Redgrave Bridge, then across Woolwich Ferry (or if just miss one via Foot Tunnel). Back via Thames Path (NCN 4) past Flood Barrier and O2. Most of route will be same as on previous Thames Lovers ride, map at

As Jamie said in his report from that ride, ?There cannot be many healthy activities more enjoyable than a cycle along a warm and sunny London river path with good company.? Fingers crossed we get the warm and sunny again!

    • As a slight woman in my mid 60's who's an avid walker I find these reports really upsettting and to be honest they put me off the idea of walking around the area for relaxation and pleasure like I used to. Most disturbing is the report of them threatening to kill someones dog and trying to kick it- I'm streetwise having been born and brought up in Notting Hill long before it was gentrified, and I lived in NYC for awhile in the 80's but there was'nt this senseless nastiness attacking and intimidating people for 'sport' that there seems to be now. Not long ago I had two females on a 185 bus just pushing me and cussing me for no reason whatsover-I confronted them about it and they carried on and started threatening to kill me...I honestly have no idea why. probably Just trying to intimidate me..another passenger advised me to get off because he could see they were jabbing me in the side and pushing me around-I did get off and realised I was actually really shaken up and scared they'd followed me. I dont know why there is so much anger and hatred in the world it saddens me.
