For sale: Shirt travel protector - £10

Recommended Posts

This Shirt Shuttle is a really good idea for those who commute by bike or need to transport shirts without them creasing or crushing. A few scratches on the case as it has been used but still functions perfectly.

The box itself has three main components: a hard plastic shell, a dense polystyrene back, and a central removable board made of the same polystyrene. It feels robust and solid both in and out of my bag. The polystyrene used is similar to the type you would find on a body board, to give you an idea of the quality.

Sitting on top of this is a plastic shell that is good and thick, not allowing for too much compression and certainly good enough quality to not crack under a reasonable amount of pressure.

Inside is a board around which the shirt is folded. There are then two pegs at the top that keep it in place and stop it from shifting around inside the box. Folding the shirt around the board is very easy, and it allows for enough space that the folds don't need to be too tight.

    • My mum (91 years young!) well remembers going to Austin's as a child, which she described as an 'Aladdin's Cave'!  She absolutely loved it - and is still a shopping fiend to this day (I 'blame' Austin's 😉). Going back up Peckham Rye, passing Austin's on your right hand-side, just past Phillips Walk (so not far from Austin's at all), I believe there was a British Relay Wireless shop - this would have been in the late 1930s/early 1940s.  Does anyone know anything about this? My grandad (my mum's dad) used to manage it; it was severely damaged in The Blitz - but I am having trouble locating it.  Mum's memory is dim (she was 6 at the time); she originally thought it was in Rye Lane, but we think now it was in Peckham Rye just up from Phillips Walk (originally Phillips Road).
    • Thanks everyone, this will need to be reported again as the fox was still mobile and walking down the road when last seen... hopefully someone will spot and report.
