Getting rid of confidential paper?

Hiya,

Im currently moving home and need to bin a lot of old confidential paper such as bank statements but wasnt sure of the best place to take them nearby?

Any suggestions very welcome.

Buy/borrow a cross-shredder and shred the lot, it's the only way to gurantee your personal information is safe. Probably worth buying a small one if you can and regularly shredding anything with any personal info on it. If you do have a lot to shred initially then you may need to do it in batches otherwise the small home shredders can over-heat and stop working temporarily.

Thanks. Ive already torn them up a little so think that the shredder option is out. Burning it is a good idea but I fear I might burn more than just the paper by accident!

Will keep looking for local incinerator!

Go to the Veolia Refuse place on Devon st off Old Kent Road, see if they can help. They're helpful people there.

Compost it.

Put it in the bath or a large bucket and cover with water, turns to mush and then can go in the recycling

Burn it if you have outside space. Use an old (metal) saucepan if you're worried about fire.
