In Lockdown I got on my bicycle and started delivering sourdough loaves and pastries to my neighbours in South East London.

My thinking was simple. Everyone loves great bread and pastries but they're often hard to find and inconvenient to purchase. As a result, too many miss out on the simple joy these products bring and the quality time that families share over them.

Wouldn't it be better if you could just start your weekend with freshly baked sourdough and pastries waiting for you on your doorstep?

That's why I set up Butter & Crust - to deliver outstanding freshly baked goods directly to your doorstep each Saturday morning for you to wake up to - no stress, no faff. Like the milkman, but much higher quality and delivered 100% by bicycle.

Been using butter and crust for about 6 months. Really good milk. Great bread and easy way to schedule Monmouth coffee beans. Has been great. Would recommend.

Thank you! I'm very pleased to hear it and appreciate you sharing the good word!

Your cargo bicycle on the pavement in Gilkes is a hazard and it hasn't moved for over a year!

The tyres are flat and the cargo basket is full of water. It makes it very awkward for pedestrians to get past.

Thanks for bringing this to my attention Kathleen. I will get the cargo biked moved on Friday.

All the very best.

Cargo bike is still on pavement on Gilkes Crescent, been there well over a year, doesn't move, tires are flat.

Can't understand why you don't need to use it, or is it just free advertising?

Sorry, Cathleen. I had asked a member of the team to move it on the Friday but I see that didn't happen.

I have just removed the bike myself now. Thanks for your patience with us.

All the very best.

You almost had me fooled there Ollie.

I see you have just moved the old cargo bike with the flat tyre to the pavement outside Megan's instead! Unbelievable.

I will contact Southwark Council and get them to remove it instead.

Hi Kathleen,

Thanks for the message. We moved the bike from the lamppost and took it inside our workplace after you raised the issue. We later briefly locked it up outside of Meghan’s ahead of it being collected and permanently rehomed. That’s all now happened so you won’t see it again.

As before, thanks for raising the issue and I apologise for any inconvenience caused.

All the best.

There was one of their bikes chained up on Woodwarde Road for months as well - are their cargo bikes breeding?

Hi Rockets,

There is only the one bike. It was locked up for a period on Woodwarde road where my co-founder lived at the time and the bike was being used every week. I am genuinely sorry if that inconvenienced you. As above, the cargo bike in question has now been rehomed.

All the very best.

Can you bing vegan cheese? If so

Hi Jules and Boo,

Thanks for the question. I'm afraid we don't offer cheese/vegan cheese at the moment. Our focus for now is on the products that you would typically find in a bakery.

All the very best.

    • In just two days, we’ll take to the streets to show Donald Trump that he and his politics are not welcome here. On Saturday the global far-right mobilised their biggest protest for decades. We want to show that supporters of Trump and fascism are not the majority – far from it. Here are all the details you need for the day. The march assembles at Portland Place, near the BBC, at 2pm (see assembly blocs below). After speeches here, the march will move off at 3pm. It will then march down Regent St, through Piccadilly Circus, on Whitehall (past Downing St) to our rally at Parliament Square. The rally at Parliament Square will begin around 5pm and finish at 7pm. If you can’t make it to the march, feel free to join the rally after work! (Nearest tube: Westminster). The short, accessible version of the route assembles at the top of Whitehall (SW1A 2DY) at 4.30pm to march to Parliament Square for 5pm. You may also prefer to just join the rally directly at Parliament Square.  Join a bloc – and make friends! Our movement is diverse, and various elements are forming ‘blocs’ on the march to emphasise their visual presence collectively. You can join these blocs or form up behind them:   A) Palestine, near BBC, W1A 1AA B) Climate, W1B 1NS C) Amnesty, around junction with New Cavendish St, W1B 1LU D) Migrants' rights, W1B 1LS E) Jewish bloc, W1B 1QQ F) Ukraine, around junction with Weymouth St, W1B 1JL G) Europe, W1B 1NR More stewards still needed Stewards are a crucial part of keeping the protest safe for everyone to participate. They are a visible point of contact for attendees who may need directions or other assistance. Experience of stewarding is useful but it's also fine if you haven't done it before. You will be issued with a hi-vis jacket and briefed in advance and on the day.  Sign up to be a steward Staying comfortable on the day The demonstration lasts for several hours, so we suggest you should:     Bring a bottle of water and snacks (and eat beforehand)     Charge your phone fully the night before, and bring a portable charger if you can     Go to the loo beforehand (really!)     Buddy up with someone, or stick together as a group – it can be hard to find people easily if people wander off     Coming alone? Protests can be a great place to meet like-minded people. If you feel unsure, you can always talk to a steward     Consider the weather: bring a waterproof jacket or wear suncream where necessary     Wear comfortable clothes and footwear, and use our accessible route if you need to (see above) Bring your friends and family on Wednesday. Let’s make this massive! In solidarity, Stop Trump Coalition
