(This is my first time using the Forum so I apologise if this is in the wrong section. I'm not intending to spam)

South London Samba is a new drumming ensemble based in Peckham/Nunhead. We are a group of young people (around 10 of us) aged between 15-21 who love to drum. I (Adam Ouissellat, in photo above) decided to start the band at the end of 2012 and saved up to buy all the equipment. Our drums are Brazilian surdos/bass drums and snares. I arrange tunes to be high energy and exciting, and although we use samba drums we aren't confined to any style.

We would love to perform anywhere! Any schools, fairs etc. are exactly what we are looking for. I am aiming to build support in the local area and hopefully expand. I appreciate any help/ideas/suggestions. We started at Ivydale School (rehearsing and then performing in an assembly) in December but have not been able to continue. We are in dire need of a rehearsal space with storage so if anyone is able to help, please contact me. The band is invite only as I want to maintain a high level of performance but if any schools or groups want a teacher I am more than happy to. Non-members won't be able to use my equipment though as it is very expensive.

    • In part, it’s largely down to people not actually caring about anyone or anything else apart from their own gratification (btw, there are better ways to get a dopamine fix)
    • I totally agree it just seems that it a thing nowadays.  It must be due to how fireworks are sold.

    • If it was limited to a couple of days a year, so we all knew, that would be fine. In the last few years (and it is a recent thing) you get random fireworks going off any time after dusk for half the year. It does more than cause problems for pets and wildlife- it can mean lasting damage and massive expense and hassle for pet owners. All because some get a buzz out of loud bangs.
