Could be any number of reasons

Cat sitting in a funny pose under the car

Or

Something amusing about the car that he wanted to capture

Or

Just liked the shape for a photo

Jumping to conclusions, whilst potentially correct, could also be wrong and without asking the photographer I guess its impossible to know the real reason but I guess speculation is all we have left 😉

Car is parked illegally

Car is not taxed or MOT'd

Car has amusing bumper sticker

Car is same as car previously owned by photographer

Photographer has Instagram account for boring cars (this exists)

Driver of car did something naughty

Photographer is very curious

Do I get a prize if I guess correctly?

Ok ,I've googled and apparently a ringer is a stolen car .The car being photographed is not stolen .Owned by neighbour for several years .

I think the idea is that the photographer has access to a (stolen, or to be stolen) car of that make, model and colour and plans to ring it using the photographed car's registration details. However that normally would be done (except in cases where the car itself is to be used in a criminal enterprise) in order to sell-on the ringed car - so normally a high-end and newish car would be chosen.

    • Back garden mowed on Monday, some of it for the first time this year.  Not a lot of interest in this grassland, but hoping for the promised rain this week as it needs it.  We use no tap water in the garden apart from conditioner tap water for the pond when rainwater storage runs out, very early this year. Purple clover, buttercups, rattle and ox eye daisies looking great in the front.  Seeds sown did not germinate due to lack of spring rain.  The meadow will be cut by hand when flowers die back, white clover will be out shortly and cutting the rest back may encourage the purple clover to flower again.  Loads of bees  Fun time is when the grasshoppers appear.
    • Just found a link for LB Southwark wildlife and ecology. Suggest all those listing in disgust to read some of this.  https://www.southwark.gov.uk/culture-and-sport/parks-and-open-spaces/ecology-and-wildlife
    • Don’t they do it every year?
    • My word, we are in agreement on something!  It's good that there are wildlife areas. I cultivate one too.  But this thread is a bit knee jerk. Time would be better spent lobbying Southwark and other big landowners to create more wildlife havens.
