poppet27
HelloAny ideas how we could remove our unsightly concrete patio at the back of our house? I suspect it was created to level the garden (previously you would have stepped up to the grassy area), but years on, it's cracked and mossy. We'd prefer a tiled patio..unless this is a huge job.See photos. It's about 9ft X 3ft.Thanks in advance Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/31338-gardening-qu-removing-concrete-patio/ Share on other sites
ed_pete
Depends on how strong you're feeling and what tools you have. You'd probably find that a few (:)) hefty swings with a sledgehammer would crack it more and then you could use a crowbar to lever it up in bits. If you don't feel like doing it yourself then I'm sure one the handyman services that are recommended on this forum could do it for you. Bear in mind removal: you'd need to take the broken up concrete to the Southwark tip (Old Kent Road) for disposal or you could hire a small skip but that would probably prove very expensive. Sledgehammers and crowbars can be hired fairly cheaply from hire shops or you may be able to borrow them from another formumite. Saffron
Try Will Frost for this kind of work. http://www.williamfrostgardens.co.uk/ xx Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/31338-gardening-qu-removing-concrete-patio/#findComment-636102 Share on other sites
uncleglen
A pickaxe looks like the tool to use because there are cracks already. You can hire them Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/31338-gardening-qu-removing-concrete-patio/#findComment-636179 Share on other sites
