Tonight I’ll show you guys how I read photos as references & how I deconstruct them and translate them into drawings. Bring your own references! These can also be unfinished drawings!

In our workshops we’ll cover:

understanding of head and overall face structure

different ways of starting a portrait. From line & from values.

Importance of gaze

different anatomical parts in the face

introduction to long poses

values

Break it down into stages

first sketch where we compose the portrait, make sure proportions are correct

Determine the 3-4 different value groups

Find sub-values

Clean up and tidy up drawing with lines and eraser

Use break to review drawings

ARTIST/MODELS will be asked to pose for 15 - 20 min each throughout the session. The more the merrier!
