So I found that there is no way to attach a photo when using the forum on phone, which is madness as the photos are on the phone. It's taken me an age to transfer photos to PC. It was so simple in the older format both on phone and PC

I'm having to use my PC to even do this and attach a photo, because the below 'attachments' tab as you can see from the phone screengrab is absent or am I missing something?

Addition

When I start a post on phone and save it because I can't attach a photo it does not then appear on the PC version even though I've logged out and back in again

Kind regards

Hi,

I can't see your screenshot, but this is what it looks like on my phone once you press the Add Files button on the attachments tab. I've just uploaded this from my own phone.

Pressing the 'Camera' button will let you take a photo straight away and upload it, or the 'Files' button will let you find something you've already taken.

Could you let me know which brand and model number your phone is? I will look into it.

HI Joe

The screen shots are attached of my phone clearly showing no option to load a photo on this EDF format, had no problem for years loading a file on the older format. Phone is Nokia 7 plus

Thanks

PS just to note, the draft has now appeared on PC version after an hour of doing it on my phone. I have to say this is all very inconvenient. Enough to put one off using the site as it's very frustrating not being able to use a system which previously was very user friendly and clear for even the most IT uneducated to use like myself

Kind regards

I can see the problem.

Based on your screenshot, you have saved a draft, then you are accessing it via the Manage drafts section in the control panel. When you do this, there should be a Load Draft and View/Edit link next to the draft.

To load the message into the post editor, you have to press 'Load Draft' as shown below

The post editor is the same screen you see when you reply to a topic normally (without going through the draft screen). Here you can upload attachments.

However, In your screenshot, I can see that you've instead clicked the View/Edit button on the drafts screen. This is a screen which only lets you edit the raw text of the message. It doesn't let you do any formatting or attach images. Its just there to let you make a quick modification to a message you've saved. To be honest, I've never seen this View/Edit screen before - it does seem a little pointless and I'm not sure why you'd use it over the 'Load Draft'. Maybe I will look into removing this to avoid confusion.

But in summary - if you are using drafts, you need to use the Load Draft button.

If you are having problems uploading attachments from the post editor screen, then do let me know.

    • The current wave of xenophobia is due to powerful/influential people stirring up hatred.  It;'s what happened in the past, think 1930s Germany.  It seems to be even easier now as so many get their information from social media, whether it is right or wrong.  The media seeking so called balance will bring some nutter on, they don't then bring a nutter on to counteract that. They now seem to turn to Reform at the first opportunity. So your life is 'shite', let;s blame someone else.  Whilst sounding a bit like a Tory, taking some ownership/personal responsibility would be a start.  There are some situations where that may be more challenging, in deindustrialised 'left behind' wasteland we can't all get on our bikes and find work.  But I loathe how it is now popular to blame those of us from relatively modest backgrounds, like me, who did see education and knowledge as a way to self improve. Now we are seen by some as smug liberals......
    • Kwik Fit buggered up an A/C leak diagnosis for me (saying there wasn't one, when there was) and sold a regas. The vehicle had to be taken to an A/C specialist for condensor replacement and a further regas. Not impressed.
    • Yes, these are all good points. I agree with you, that division has led us down dangerous paths in the past. And I deplore any kind of racism (as I think you probably know).  But I feel that a lot of the current wave of xenophobia we're witnessing is actually more about a general malaise and discontent. I know non-white people around here who are surprisingly vocal about immigrants - legal or otherwise. I think this feeling transcends skin colour for a lot of people and isn't as simple as, say, the Jew hatred of the 1930s or the Irish and Black racism that we saw laterally. I think people feel ignored and looked down upon.  What you don't realise, Sephiroth, is that I actually agree with a lot of what you're saying. I just think that looking down on people because of their voting history and opinions is self-defeating. And that's where Labour's getting it wrong and Reform is reaping the rewards.
    • @Sephiroth you made some interesting points on the economy, on the Lammy thread. Thought it worth broadening the discussion. Reeves (irrespective of her financial competence) clearly was too downbeat on things when Labour came into power. But could there have been more honesty on the liklihood of taxes going up (which they have done, and will do in any case due to the freezing of personal allowances).  It may have been a silly commitment not to do this, but were you damned if you do and damned if you don't?
