The old Forum used to have a link (board) giving access to useful local information - such as Local Councillors' contacts and other similar information - I suspect that the data on it (some of which was out-of-date) might have been something that was saved during the hand-over. The information can of course, generally, be googled for, but it was useful to have it on one place. It would be good if something similar could be created (although clearly that is not an easy task). Maybe some of the information could be sourced from e.g. The Dulwich Society.

Just a thought - but I am really cognisant of your efforts and the continued success of what was, in effect, a virtually seamless migration onto a generally user friendly platform.

You can find a copy of the old 'Local Info' page here. Obviously not up to date - the list of Councillors is very old.

Adding extra content like this to the forum is on my TODO list. It will be beneficial for people living in and moving to the area. Another potential benefit is improving the forum's search engine optimisation (SEO), so people searching for something like 'East Dulwich transport links' or 'Southwark Council Services' would find an article on this website.

Some ideas I had (feel free to suggest more)

  • General introduction to East Dulwich, e.g. history, local parks
  • Southwark Council services (council tax payment, parking info, libraries etc)
  • Transport links in East Dulwich (info about train services, buses)
  • Local pubs

In addition information about parking (costs, restrictions, timing, particular in Parks such as Dulwich and Belair) would be of value. And possibly links to sites offering travel information - such as real-time train times from local stations (inc. Honor Oak park and Forest Hill which are of value to those in the east of 'our' area). Indeed links to 'live' sites might mean that some of the updating chore is outsourced. As more people access the EDF from mobiles that becomes, perhaps, a real and immediate value.

A Link to this site (when they bother to put in the Councillor information!) would be of value, and would mean councillor information wasn't up to you to update

    • Is it just me, or are some of the cars around East Dulwich now roughly the size of a modest one-bed flat? Our lovely Victorian streets were designed for horses, carts and the occasional penny-farthing — not rolling apartment blocks on wheels. Earlier today someone tried to pass me while driving squarely down the middle of the road, seemingly too terrified to move over in case their wing mirror brushed a leaf. We ended up in a sort of slow-motion standoff that felt less “road sharing” and more “Wild West showdown”. I completely understand wanting a safe, comfy car — but when the vehicle is wider than the street and both drivers need a deep breathing exercise just to squeeze past each other, it might be time to ask whether the car fits the postcode. Maybe we need Victorian-era width limits reinstated… or complimentary tape measures issued with every CPZ permit? 😉
    • Sad to hear about Mike Dulwich Fox he was a local lad born and brought up in the area.  R.I.P Bob S
    • Excellent news! I googled and came up with a thread from this forum about Jamie being forced out. I had posted the link, but when I read the thread I didn't think it was appropriate to post because  It was started by Dulwich Fox, who sadly died last year (R.I.P.), and contained comments by and to him which were not relevant to the actual closure.
