We have 2 rides, one 3.5 hours, one 2 hours. Remember you should register on Eventbrite, details below. If you cannot make it, please cancel so that someone else can take the place. Even at the last minute it is worth cancelling (How to cancel). Note that all planned rides are subject to change last minute due to rail (& ferry) strikes, illness, extreme weather etc. Whenever possible we will keep start time and place as advertised. We will always try to contact registered riders by e-mail.

For info: Reports on last weeks (Sept24th) rides at https://southwarkcyclists.org.uk/healthy-rides/healthy-ride-reports-2022/ride-reports-24-sept-2022/.

Ride 1. London Bridge to Alexandra Palace < https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/london-bridge-to-alexandra-palace-cycle-ride-tickets-426872084897 > .

Start 10am at The Southwark Gateway Needle, SE side London Bridge, close to the station. Est finish 1:30. Bruce leading this 20 mile ride. Several off-road stretches, most of rest on cycleways or quiet streets. Just a few short bits on main roads. Outward route across the City, past the Barbican and Bunhill fields, over canal at Packington Bridge, Clissold Park, Finsbury Park. Coffee at Lakeside Café, Alexandra Palace.

Return along the South Terrace (Photo opp), off road path to Muswell Hill then more off road along Parkland Walk to Muswell Hill Road. Then a bit of road, including 300m of the A1. Pick up the Parkland walk again for 2.6km to Finsbury Park, west side. Then along quiet streets south through Highbury Fields avoiding the Emirates Stadium (Arsenal home match with 12.30 kick off). Long quiet streets run past Mount Pleasant to Roseberry Ave. Probably pick up CW6 for quick run down to the Embankment and east to Monument and London Bridge. There are a few uphills, notably the climb up to Alexandra Palace (91m). Everyone welcome. Details of the proposed route at

Ride 2. Canada Water to Blackheath Pre-Marathon ride

Oct 2nd is the date for this year’s London Marathon. The ride will go past the start areas that transform part of Blackheath. Ride Leader Simon is a veteran of many London Marathons and will talk a bit about this amazing event during the ride. Start/finish Deal Porter Square opposite Canada Water Station and next to Canada Water Library.

Start 10am for a 2 hour ride. OR can meet at Greenwich Park (Nevada St/King William Walk Gate) at 10.30. Please indicate on the registration form if doing this. Route: CW, Thames Path, Greenwich Park, up to the Observatory, across to Blackheath, then return via Greenwich Park, then section of Cycleway 10 (Q1) through Deptford, Folkestone Gardens and past the Millwall ground before heading back to Canada Water.

These rides are part of the Healthy Riders group, organised by Bruce Lynn on behalf of Southwark Cyclists https://southwarkcyclists.org.uk/. Like everything else we do, our activities are all free. We co-operate with other London Cycling Campaign groups like Greenwich Cyclists. The LCC details are here: https://lcc.org.uk/.

    • Big recommendation for Stephen Viccary who has created a magnificent bathroom for us. Quality of work is absolutely top notch. We couldn't be happier - see pics.  Stephen is considerate and tidy meaning working from home during the work was fine (some noise - obviously, it is a demo and installation after all. He does not work on multiple jobs, does a full days work and does ALL the work himself - Tiling, plumbing, lighting (including lighting on a motion sensor under the vanity and in the shower niche - for night time visits 😉), he even changed the door architraves, sorted the badly cracked ceiling and did all the paint work. A full end to end service. Stephen's number - 07941 266 145
    • Highly recommend Dulwich Eco Gardening.  When he came to quote Saied said he’d give our garden back so we could decide what we do next.  Under two weeks of hard work from Saied and Mo and we have the garden back and can see paving I’d forgotten about. Not only did Saied remove our very overgrown greenery. Nature had taken over. He also took back to our fence line overgrown ivy, apple and pear trees and and dealt with a neighbours bamboo that had invaded our garden.  We are now going to get quotes for what we do next so those quoting will be able to see the space.  Saied has suggested someone to quote and will be coming back when he does in case he has any questions or they can work together.  I thought Saied would be a good choice and he was. Quotes from others didn’t leave me with confidence for the end result. That was never a concern with Saied.
    • Having a BBQ (fingers crossed) in 2 weeks and need a small BBQ for veggie bits and any spare benches or garden tables and chairs to borrow to add to mine. Any going? Thanks in advance...
