We have 2 rides for Oct 15th, one 3/3.5 hours, one 2 hours. Remember you should register on Eventbrite, details below. If you cannot make it, please cancel so that someone else can take the place. Even at the last minute it is worth cancelling (How to cancel).

For info: Reports on previous rides at https://southwarkcyclists.org.uk/healthy-rides/healthy-ride-reports-2022/. Also more photos on WhatsApp (“The Vulnerables”).

Ride 1. Kensington Palace < https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/london-bridge-to-kensington-palace-cycle-ride-tickets-440006219447 > .

Start 9.30 am (note earlier start time) at London Bridge (The Needle). Est finish 1:00. Amanda leading. Out along the south side of the river and over Westminster Bridge, then Horseguards and the Mall and through Hyde Park to Kensington Palace. Return down Queensgate to Battersea Park and the Power Station. Final stretch back along the river and C14. Coffee break location depends on how busy places are, possibly Kensington Palace, but more likely Battersea Park or Vauxhall. Usual easy pace and keeping to the quieter streets. Lots and lots to see. Everyone welcome.

Ride 2. Dulwich to Streatham Common < https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/dulwich-to-streatham-common-southwark-healthy-cycle-ride-tickets-438548940687>

Ride Leader Bruce. Start 10am for a 2 hour ride. Start/finish location the Café in Dulwich Park. Not done this ride since Feb 2020, before the pandemic. Short ride (8 miles), undulating, should be time for a coffee at the Rookery Café on the Common and for a peep at the striking Rookery Gardens (sadly too early for the promised Flamenco Dancing, part of the Streatham Festival). Mostly street cycling, some sections a bit busy. Will look in at the velodrome. Finish with a nice downhill back to Dulwich. Route at

These rides are part of the Healthy Riders group, organised by Bruce Lynn on behalf of Southwark Cyclists https://southwarkcyclists.org.uk/. Like everything else we do, our activities are all free. We co-operate with other London Cycling Campaign groups like Greenwich Cyclists. The LCC details are here: https://lcc.org.uk/.

    • He seemed to me to be fully immersed in the Jeremy Corbyn ethos of the Labour Party. I dint think that (and self describing as a Marxist) would have helped much when Labour was changed under Starmer. There was a purge of people as far left as him that he was lucky to survive once in my opinion.   Stuff like this heavy endorsement of Momentum and Corbyn. It doesn't wash with a party that is in actual government.   https://labourlist.org/2020/04/forward-momentum-weve-launched-to-change-it-from-the-bottom-up/
    • I perceive the problem.simply as spending too much without first shoring up the economy.  If the government had reduced borrowing,  and as much as most hate the idea, reduced government deiartment spending (so called austerity) and not bowed to union pressures for pay rises, then encouraged businesses to grow, extra cash would have entered the coffers and at a later stage when the economy was in a stronger position rises in NI or taxes would have a lesser impact, but instead Reeves turned that on its head by increasing ni which has killed growth, increased prices and shimmied the economy.  What's worse is that the perceived 20 billion black hole has increased to 30 billion in a year. Is there a risk that after 5 years it could be as high as 70 billion ???
    • That petition is bananas.   If you want a youth centre there pay the landlord the same rent a Londis would and build it yourself or shut the f**k up to be honest. Wasting our MPs time with this trivial nonsense is appalling. If your kids are still out at 1am on a school night you've got bigger problems than vapes and booze and hot sausage rolls.
    • There used to be a better baker than Gail's on the same site immediately before Gail's pulled their financial muscle.
