The press and opposition love calling out 'u-turns' it seems. And while of course we want to see leaders with well considered plans and conviction in their plans....isn't it also the sign of a good leader that as the facts change, they change their mind?

Yes...many government changes of decisions this year can be seen negatively and are reflective of poor due diligence in my view....but I don't think all changes of heart should be seen in this negative light....

I mean sunak going to cop in eygypt....is it really a uturn worth attacking? He probably shouldn't go, as plenty to get done at home...but is going because Boris is going.....fair enough...UK doesn't want BJ leading the conversation on their behalf....a sensible move in changing circumstances...

He should go, and it is sad if it is due to Johnson's presence. I hope he saw sense and is going for the right reasons. It would be interesting to hear what the Aussie's position is - green energy with all that sunshine exporting it where possible to the region is surely a win win.

And of course Brazil

    • The NYT ( that right wing alarmist rag) has reported that Iran told Qatar so they could prepare. Iran and Q are on good terms so Q won’t retaliate, esp as Iran is only targeting US bases, which everyone knew to expect.     If anything, it draws Qatar into the dialogue and Q will privately be urging Iran to back down.
    • If the Qatari's decide to retaliate then it's all going off...but I suspect the Iranians are hoping for this - one inaccurate missile and the Qatari's may have to. I think the Iranian leadership is working on fast-tracking their own demise and the Americans and Israeli's planning for regime change, maybe with the many political prisoners the Israelis tried to free from the Elvin prison today. What a mess but clearly Iran was becoming a big threat to not only Israel but many of the other Gulf States and was clearly doing scary stuff with nuclear weapons that required action.
    • I can't find any references to an attack on a British base. where do you find one?
    • Flea darts...now there's a thing from my past I had long forgotten about - goodness our ! This thread title does always bring a smile to my face as I can't help but think it suggests a campaign to prevent the removal of someone's stash!
