Starts Tues 29 Nov! Link Age Southwark’s ‘double your donation’ Big Give Christmas Challenge

Recommended Posts

Local charity Link Age Southwark is aiming to raise £10,000 in just one week to support their work providing vital transport services to older people, people living with dementia and their carers by taking part in the Big Give Christmas Challenge 2022.

If Link Age Southwark can raise their target of £10,000 in online donations from midday on Tuesday (29 November) to midday on 6 December, this money will be doubled thanks to a Big Give Christmas Challenge ‘pledge pot’ of £10,000. So your donation will have twice the impact! Here’s how you can help:

● Visit Link Age Southwark’s Big Give Christmas Challenge campaign web page via http://www.linkagesouthwark.org to make a donation from midday on Tuesday 29 November. The campaign will close at midday on Tuesday 6 December.

● If you are unable to donate at this time, you can support Link Age Southwark’s Big Give Christmas Challenge by telling your friends, family and colleagues or sharing details on social media. The charity will be posting about the campaign on Twitter (@LASwark), Instagram (@linkagesouthwark) and Facebook: www.facebook.com/linkagesouthwark/

Link Age Southwark’s volunteer drivers, escorted taxis for those living with dementia and their carers and the use of an accessible minibus for larger events help over 250 local people leave their homes to attend a warm and safe space for social, exercise and activity groups organised by the charity.

As the difficult financial situation and wintry weather now bite, these journeys will become even more important. Link Age Southwark relies on donations to make them happen, as well as the other services they provide free of charge.

Thank you from everyone at Link Age Southwark. www.linkagesouthwark.org

Just one more day to donate and get it matchfunded! So if you donate a tenner with Gift Aid, the charity gets over £22.

I found the link in the post didn’t work so just Googled and got to this site: https://www.linkagesouthwark.org/News/big-give-christmas-challenge-2022

This organisation has been so helpful to my family and their volunteers are so kind, thank you!

    • It didn't occur to me to ask. No idea if dieticians are employed within the NHS. It is just one line of enquiry among others. The GP mentioned it, not me.
    • I thought the most they sell in terms of hot food at londis is like pastries and sausage rolls and for hot drinks its like costa coffee but its always a convenience store. Doesn’t look too bad in my opinion considering that shop has been closed down ever since i moved here
    • Hi Busterb, Yesterday I turned up with a scanner & towels, hoping to take a deceased tabby down to TNV. The body was moved moments before arrival & had not been turned in to any vets, rescues or animal hospitals. I am wondering if this could have been the same cat & if someone just tried to move the tabby further away from the road. Please be warned, viewers discretion is advised. but this is what the deceased tabby looked like: https://www.facebook.com/groups/900015513463302/permalink/3729980853800073/  In any case, if you haven't been able to get someone to scan or take down to a vet, I can scan tomorrow morning.
