Somebody once started a "good news" newspaper, containing only good news.

Hardly anybody bought it. This is absolutely true.

Many people appear to thrive on bad news. Maybe it makes them feel lucky. Presumably this is why AOL (where I still have a little-used email address) fills their news page with stories of dead children. I have complained to them about this every time they ask for feedback, but nothing changes.

I don't click on the stories, but you still get the bloody headlines shoved in your face when you check your email.

Have gradually reduced my news consumption to the Saturday Grauniad and an occasional look at the Grauniad on my phone, unless there's a major incident like the helicopter crash at Vauxhall. Have not noticed any great loss from not knowing about what's going on :)

Aaaagh. I know, I know, I know - having heard the news far too many times today whilst on the M1. And if and when it happens I shall be waving him 'al Wada' from my humble home right under the flight path.

It's the synonymous titles I'm fed up with. Oh, I see. You were just yankin' my chain, the-e-dealer.

    • There was something to do a with a gate in the Brockwell case, I can't recall the detail, but the council removed a gate, which had been gifted in trust to the park, so the festival builders could allow access, or something. And that was illegal and that's what enabled Rylance et al to litigate.
    • How long is the Gala, and potential new event, disruption….this could be key from the article on the High Court challenge against Lambeth…   Under permitted development rules, a temporary change of use is allowed for a total of 28 days each calendar year, but the Brockwell Park festivals run over 37 days and were due to begin on 23 May.
    • Try the castle upstairs, you'd need to buy a few drinks in return.  @Suecan you advise?  It will be in use some Mondays no doubt
    • Yes, I was bemused to see that notice in Barry Road. It seemed a strange place to be having a drop off point.
