Note 2. Ride reports, often with photos and route maps, are posted to the Southwark Cyclists web site, 2023 index at https://southwarkcyclists.org.uk/healthy-rides/healthy-ride-reports-2023/. Report for last Monday’s ride to Hackney Marshes is already up.

We have 2 rides for Jan 14th. One is a repeat of the popular New Year’s Eve ride to view Henry Moore statues. The other is a short, really easy, ride round the Central London bridges. Remember to register on Eventbrite and if you cannot make it, please cancel so that someone else can take the place. Even at the last minute it is worth cancelling (How to cancel )

Ride 1. Henry Moore Sculptures Ride https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/henry-moore-sculptures-ride-tickets-506559963487?aff=erelexpmlt

Please note different start & end points.

Timing: Start 10h00, finish 13h30

Start: Archbishop's Park, Royal Street/Lambeth Palace Road junction (opposite St Thomas's Hospital Emergency Dept.)

End: Kennington Park Cafe

Distance: 13.78 miles / 22.18 km

Ride info from Jane who will be leading. Your chance to begin 2023 with some improving culture! This ride follows a route across Vauxhall Bridge and mostly through central London to look at 8 works created by the sculptor Henry Moore. We will return via South Kensington and Chelsea, visiting "Three Standing Figures" in Battersea Park and ending with a surprise (for some) on the Brandon Estate near Kennington Park.

Be prepared for a bit of stop/start riding as we'll be hearing brief facts about each sculpture and there will be a coffee stop at some point. We should finish by 13h30 and I can direct people back to Southwark destinations from Kennington Park if required.

Mostly segregated cycle lanes plus sections of quiet road and short stretches of busier road. Route at

    • Maurice fixed a blocked pipe in our bathroom, was communicative and reliable during the enquiry process, personable and professional during the fix and reasonable in his pricing. Would recommend.
    • Dishing the dirt is generally fine when it comes to politicians and in Farage's case he often deserves it but  nothing illegal  has been done. It is not illegal for him to give his partner a sizeable amount of money with which to buy a house and have it registered in her name. He is 64 years old and his partner is 16 years younger and so he most likely is making plans to minimise IHT. There is a sliding scale for IHT but basically a gift is free of IHT if the gift is made 7 years before the donor dies. Farage is 64 years old and his partner is 16 years younger. In 7 years time, if he lives that long, he will be 71 years old. Given that he smokes like a chimney and drinks like a fish, his odds on getting beyond 71  years may be pretty slim.  A similar  process is followed by the "bank of mum and dad"  where parents  give money to their kids to fund purchase of a property. Many who are not cash rich will mortgage their home and so release equity to fund their kids property. We did it as have many of our friends.
