Does anyone know why this might be on a flat we’re thinking of buying? Any insights gratefully received!

The label says "if the light is flashing or an alarm is sounding there maybe a fault with the drainage device. In the event of this or any other emergency phone 08000562625"

There may be a drainage problem hence the device has been installed will be my guess, ask the seller why it is there.

That is a electric control box for a submersible sump pump to pump water out of a sump underground . fitted many when waste or rain water needs pumping from below ground level. ie from a cellar or basement area. Hope this helps.
