We have 2 rides for Feb 4th, both starting in Peckham Square. One is a reverse direction of the 35 parks ride, a bit shortened. The other is a short, easy ride to Blackheath and Greenwich Park. Remember to register on Eventbrite and if you cannot make it, please cancel so that someone else can take the place. Even at the last minute it is worth cancelling (How to cancel )

Ride 1. Parks and Ride (reverse) < https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/33-parks-and-ride-reverse-southwark-healthy-ride-tickets-526052887347 >

A bonanza exploration of 33 green spaces - six iconic parks (Burgess, Kennington, Clapham Common, Brockwell, Dulwich and Peckham Rye) and lots of hidden away green spaces. All within a loop of a 3km radius. Visiting Camberwell Submarine, Van Gogh, Brixton Windmill (plus two others), Royal Surrey Zoological Gardens (now defunct), and a near-miss prison visit as a bonus!

Coffee stop in Dulwich Park (toilets). Easy riding on quiet roads and cycle routes, and through some parks. This is an approximate reverse of Simon's ride on 21st Jan, but it feels like a totally different ride. Simon S leading. About 14 miles, some gentle slopes, 3 hours.

Start Peckham Library at 10.00am - back by 1.00pm.

Ride 2. Peckham to Blackheath Loop. < https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/peckham-to-blackheath-loop-southwark-healthy-ride-tickets-526056698747 >

10am start in Peckham Square (next to Peckham Library and Peckham Pulse Leisure Centre) for a 2 hour ride led by Bruce. Ride we have not done for a while. Good route for less confident cyclists – lots of off road path and most of the rest quiet streets. Outward route up to Telegraph Hill then down to Brookmill Park and a not too steep route up to Blackheath and Greenwich Park.

At Lewisham will make a small diversion to see how the new landscaping at the Ravensbourne/Quaggy confluence is coming along. Short stop at the entrance to Greenwich Park where there are loos. Return down through the park and along Cycleway10, then Bridgehouse Meadows and Meeting House Lane back to Peckham Square. 10.5 miles. Plenty of time for walking the short steep bits. Route at https://goo.gl/itW2R4

These rides are part of the Healthy Riders group, organised by Bruce Lynn on behalf of Southwark Cyclists https://southwarkcyclists.org.uk/. Like everything else we do, our activities are all free. We co-operate with other London Cycling Campaign groups like Greenwich Cyclists. The LCC details are here: https://lcc.org.uk/.

    • When I had a property with a basement there would often be a pool of water in the centre. I was told it was related to the fluctuating height of the water table in the area (se22) and would not become a problem and the only way to get rid of it would be to get the whole place completely tanked.
    • We've got a Victorian coal hole cellar with a mud floor and after a couple of severe water leaks, I've taken more of an interest in the state of the dampness.  I've been running a dehumidifier for the past couple of weeks following a small water pipe leak and whilst most of the floor is now bone dry, there are damp patches along most of the wall adjoining the next house, a large damp patch in the middle of the floor that will not dry even with the dehumidifier right next to it and a patch of wet mud in a small hollow in the middle of the cellar.  An expert that lent us industrial drying equipment following a flood from a burst mains pipe said there will always be damp, but I'm a bit concerned in case there is a fundamental problem - any ideas from anyone with similar?

    • Hi there,  Looking for 10-12 jars (to start with) of local honey to fill a small section of a deli space in my work canteen. Please get in touch if you know of any community projects/small scale productions Cheers
