No idea if this is the right section but does anyone know of a local charity that might want a wedding dress? I have a beautiful designer dress that I can't bear to gather dust. Much prefer it went to a good home.

Any suggestions welcome

Oxfam sell donated clothes online as well as in their shops.

You could try phoning the Oxfam shop at Herne Hill ?

They might be able to get more money for it online, as it will have many more potential buyers than in just one local shop?

oo thanks I'll try oxfam

I think that StChristophers which is a local charity may appreciate it more.

They have less admin costs than a huge concern like Oxfam and also make much less money from donations.

Unfortunately it is highly unlikely that somebody is going to be in the St Christopher's shop and is looking for a wedding dress and just happens to spot this one.

Which happens both to be in their size and a style that they like.

Whereas Oxfam online has a much larger number of potential buyers.

I bought my partner a linen jacket from there after we had been looking in charity shops for one for ages.

    • Well thanks for enriching the conversation.  Would you chuck Fah - rage in too for his tax avoidance on his property?   I expect it was lead story on Jeremy Vine too.  Doesn't make it a story, just a bit more of BBC tabloid style sensationalism.  There are numerous real news stories in the UK and across the world.  And now, apt for Halloween, you have summoned up the ghost of Louisa. So for the third time, will you now eat humble pie?
