Some supermarkets are experiencing veg and salad shortages due to poor growing conditions in Spain and North Africa.

BBC News - Asda limits sales of tomatoes, cucumbers and peppers

Is this the new panic buying crisis like we had with toilet rolls and tinned tomatoes or has the government's campaign to get children to eat vegetables worked too well (eat them to defeat them) 🤔?

I was referring to the media hyping the situation which is possibly making people panic.

Smaller shops, unlike supermarkets are happy to pay the new higher wholesale prices and pass it in to the consumer and as a result have stock whereas supermarkets have stricter buying constraints and won't pay the higher price hence why we are seeing empty supermarket shelves.

    • It should be easy enough to point out to anyone even thinking of voting reform that should they take power they will have no impact. And will make things worse.  And if people think politicians break promises now and reform are a breath of fresh air then they ain’t seen nothing yet  but they won’t really care about immigration if reform do win  uk used to be about law and order and now we have dim talking heads everywhere unchallenged going “leave the ECHR, stuff the judges, just do it!!”   like life is that simple sweeties
    • I have been reliably informed that it's not the same group.
    • my bet is it's the same group and no amount of talking to is going to make a difference.
    • Definitely not intended  to come across as "gleeful". Quite the opposite, because developments such as this will only encourage extreme right-wingers such as Reform. And heaven help us if they ever formed a government. It's incumbent on Labour to come up with an effective  policy to "smash the gangs" otherwise we are facing Farage and his gang further down the road.
