Hello all, my first post in this forum!

My friend who uses a motored wheelchair is coming to visit me in East Dulwich soon, and I would love to show her around the area.

We are both in our mid twenties for reference.

I am planning what we can do during her visit, which will hopefully last 3-5 hours.

Has anyone living in the area using a motorized wheelchair got any recommendations for places you love to visit?

Does anyone have any recommendations for cafes that are accessible- so are either step free or have a ramp, have enough space for a wheelchair, and have an accessible toilet?

Are there any shops that are particularly suited to browsing in a chair?

I am trying to do research myself and realizing that not everywhere has accessibility information, so first hand recommendations would be incredible.

We are new friends and as our friendship grows I know that it will become second nature to assess accessibility in the places I visit, but for now as I am learning I would really appreciate any recommendations people can give :-)

Thank you!

My aunt uses an electric wheelchair and the ED picture house is very accessible - even if just for a coffee. We ate in Olivelli which was fairly easy to remove a chair and maneuver about - staff were very amenable and helpful. The Horniman museum is also accessible including the cafe. A little further out but we also go to the Alleyn's Head pub, can park outside and all on one level with no steps.

    • I would'nt go locally I'd go to Maria Tash in Liberty..it'll be more expensive but they will do a good job and its their buisness not a 'sideline' to other beauty offerings. https://www.mariatash.com/store-locations/maria-tash-london-liberty?srsltid=AfmBOoqMz7Ev-4YqzrlkePX0n3i5JbiggGYSR9kU5z1p_ajP_jjQKqlt I have no experience of piercing at Polished but I went in to enquire about a manicure and I found the staff attitude pretty rude, looking me up and down when I walked in and just giving off a bad attitude like they just could'nt be bothered maybe because I'm not a glam 30 something? I dont know.
    • Hi everyone, I was wondering if anyone here buys Bonne Maman jam? I’d love to upcycle the empty jars if you're planning to throw them out. I'm hoping to make my own jam and would really appreciate using those cute jars for it. Thanks
