Cinema - Forest Hill / Sydenham Dulwich

Recommended Posts

Hi Everyone,

We are considering opening a local indpendent cinema in the Forest Hill / Sydenham / Dulwich area and we wanted to discuss the idea with the local residents, hence this post. We are hoping to open something that is somewhat quirky and lively that has an interesting programming schedule not only the usual Hollywood blockbusters. Our aim is for it to become a preferred alternative to Odeon/Cineworld for the locals.

We would really appreciate if you would take the time to fill out a survey by clicking the link below, it is only 10 questions. We really appreciate your time. Also please feel free to comment on this thread as to the type of films you enjoy, locations and any other suggestions you think suitable.

Have a great day,

Many thanks,

The Film Mill Team

Me too. I think anywhere local needs to offer something a bit different to attract me away, especially if it isn't Dulwich as it will be further away than Peckham Plex.

It's not going to compete with Peckham Plex on price or Surrey Keys on convenient of having a huge car park, or central London on convenience for meeting friends from other parts of London.

I'd like somewhere that feels a bit more indulgent than the average cinema - can buy a glass of wine and more grown up snacks to take in, not just buckets of popcorn or pic and mix. Give me nuts, olives etc.

    • The difficulty with all the national shame is that you are handing the world to the right wing populist parties ("The flag, love it or leave it").  You can look at many if not most of Europe for the damage their colonial conquests did to much of the world. For Britain we could equally look at partition and the impact on the Indian subcontinent, 10 million plus death and the bonkers situation with India and Pakistan now.  Spain and Portugal went much further in wiping out much of the population of South America.  i understand that Stalin was less.  We all know about the Third Reich, even then perhaps the allies could have done more. I am not questioning what you say, but sadly most are only concerned about the present and don't care about sins of the past. And back to my earlier comment that some will point out other 'conflicts' attracting much less interest. Not a reason not to march tomorrow

    • I'm interested to know why you say that? They both sell the same kind of thing, they both have own brand products, and unless I've got it completely wrong, they both seem to be trying to attract the same kind of customer? I would have thought a Waitrose and an M&S so close to each other would have split the customer base (?not sure of the correct term) for both of them? People might shop in both, but I'd have thought each store would still lose out on sales?
