Do you have wooden floors throughout your house including upstairs bedrooms?

I was wondering if anyone would recommend having wooden floor throughout or have it only for downstairs and have carpets for upstairs.

I know there are pros and cons. I like the warmth of carpets but looking at long term (over 10 years) would it be cost effective to have wooden floor throughout? Also, the ease of cleaning is very attractive!

Also at the moment I am very much interested in the grey colour wooden floor but worried that it's trendy at the moment but will go off the trend soon and will look very old fashioned in 5-6 years time.

Carpets are definitely warmer. But you can always put rugs on top of wooden floors in the Winter months.

Whatever floor you choose will probably look old-fashioned in 5-6 years' time, so I would go with what you like now!

Personally I think the same flooring throughout a house looks better, but it's a matter of personal choice really.

When you say "grey colour" wooden floor, if it's grey because it's painted, you can always paint it a different colour if you go off it in the future?

    • John recently skimmed the walls in our front room lounge, and I couldn’t be more pleased with the result. From start to finish, he was professional, punctual, and easy to work with.   He arrived on time each day and kept me updated on progress, which made the whole process smooth and stress-free. The quality of his plastering is smooth, even, and ready to paint with minimal prep. He takes real pride in his work.   John was also very tidy, laying down protective sheets and cleaning up thoroughly after the job was done. It’s clear he respects his clients’ homes, which I really appreciated.   On top of that, he’s friendly, approachable, and trustworthy someone you feel comfortable having in your home. His pricing was fair and transparent, with no unexpected costs.   Highly recommended if you're looking for a skilled and reliable plasterer. I’ll definitely be using him again for any future work.
    • You what???   Think you Should have gone to woodfalls 😁
    • Your second point contradicts your first (and previous post)
    • I'm guessing they're busy. I found out just now that the SNT has tracked down the kids who attacked my dog, had strong words with their parents, and the gang has now broken up. I got a lot of detail, which I won't go into here, but it sounds as if they were also quite compassionate towards some of the kids, some of whom may not have had the easiest of lives.  I know that those kids had nothing to do with the attack of the man in August and that they are also aware of the fireworks problem. Sounds like good community policing.
