Anyone been to...

It's a campsite on the coast in Bordeaux

Or have you been somewhere similar, as we want to take our boys away in August, but don't want the whole 'hotel' thing

Did you drive/fly

Any info gratefully received

Yeah, been. The Yelloh one, I presume?

Did short flight followed by pricey taxi.. Takes an hour or more. Friends drove to meet us there (long ferry followed by drive). This was a few years ago.

Nice site. Lots of trees. Shady but airy. Chalet things reasonably spaced-out. Bbqs near most chalets. Pool area nice, with one waterslide. Poolside facilities were a bit rustic but not in an unpleasant way. Nicely low key. On-site shop sells daily basics. There's a restaurant or two nearby which is busy but we never went. Local markets a short drive on certain days for more varied local grub.

The 'dune' is really massive. A behemoth. Kids were slightly afeared of it, but then they were a bit young. You have to get over the dune (or through one of the cut-through paths) to get to the beach. Either a nice little walk or 'can't be arsed' depending on your point of view. Can't speak for the beach as we never really went. Weather was variable for sure when we went but it was around nowish so quite early in season. Should be better in Aug but not totally guaranteed in that area by any means.

There was a kids club, which was free. There were only a five or six attending when we went but liable to be more madcap in Aug. Indeed - like all decent French campsites - liable to be quite heaving during peak season. It was very chilled when we went..
