shout-out for marshals for Ride London Freecycle Sunday May 28th

Recommended Posts

This Sunday, 28th, southwark cyclists are leading a ride to the Ride London Freecycle. We are a bit short of marshals for what is usually a big diverse group of riders (lots of them). If you are an experienced cyclist and can spare an hour to help, please contact Bruce at [email protected]. Or just turn up and help on Sunday.

Start is 10 am from the Cafe in Peckham Rye Park (Straker Rd, by the playground). Should be at Queen St before 11.  No experience of marshalling needed; hi viz tabards provided.

The time and place to meet is the same if you want to join in. Family groups including small(ish) children are welcome. Indeed everyone is welcome. Escorted rides back start at 3pm from Queen Street.

If you haven't come across the Freecycle before, this should give you the idea. https://www.ridelondon.co.uk/our-rides/ridelondon-freecycle

    • As I understand it Charlie Smith did put himself forward for selection in GG but Labour members chose someone else to represent them, Liam McGrath https://southwarklabour.com/our-candidates/   It'll be interesting to see if there are other defections - surely the Greens want a drip, drip, drip of news from now to May suggesting the momentum is with them.
    • Thanks for your feedback - we always appreciate hearing from members about their experience. The pool temperature at JAGS Sports Club is maintained at 29oC, in line with industry guidelines for mixed-use pools.  This temperature has been designed to balance comfort for lane swimmers and families. Air temperature is also monitored regularly to ensure a comfortable environment for swimmers, spectators and staff. The shower Temperature Mixing Valves (TMVs) were changed in December to improve consistency, and we hope this has made a noticeable difference. If you would like to discuss your experience in more detail, please contact us directly at [email protected] or 020 8613 6500 and we'll be really happy to help.
    • One wonders if he would have defected if he had, ahem, held on to the leadership of Southwark and whether he felt that "Labour are no longer the vehicle for social justice" during his leadership election........my how quickly things change in the thoughts of a politician 😉 I think this sums things up quite nicely: A senior Southwark Labour spokesperson hit back: “Local residents can draw their own conclusions about Cllr McAsh’s swift move from Labour leadership hopeful to the Green Party, after he didn’t get his own way. While he’s thinking about his own career, Southwark Labour are delivering for residents.” One wonders if he will stand as a Green candidate in Goose Green.
    • No doubt if he determines to stand for a ward he will enlighten us - at least his track record is one of using this site to communicate (inter alia). I would suspect that (1) his personal views on traffic will have remained consistent but that (2) his views on local democracy and proper consultation will have as well.
