Saturday May 27th 10am to 12.30.  Start/finish Dulwich Clock Café, in the middle of Dulwich Park. Jean and John leading. Head up to Peckham Rye and via LCN 22 to Ladywell Fields. Join the off-road Waterlink Way (National Route 21) and follow Ravensbourne and Pool Rivers to Lower Sydenham and on quiet streets to Beckenham Place Park. Brief stop at cafe. Return by different route initially (quiet streets, mostly Brookehouse Rd). Very short stretch of busy road at Catford where we rejoin the outward route at Ladywell Fields. Then follow outward route back to Dulwich Park. About 12 miles. Route map at https://bit.ly/2SOiQMs

Also this weekend  Ride London Freecycle on Sunday 28th May. This is an annual event when 8 miles of central London roads are completely closed to traffic. You can cycle from Buckingham Palace to Bank with no motor traffic at all – just thousands of cyclists! Lots of special activities running round the route. Very family- oriented. LCC organise led rides from all boroughs. We are organising the Southwark Ride. 10am at the Cafe in Peckham Rye Park (Straker Rd). Plus a led ride back at 3pm. Come and join the fun and bring friends and family.

These rides are part of a regular programme of Saturday rides, more information at https://southwarkcyclists.org.uk/healthy-rides/.

    • Yes, still odd. Their information seems mostly to have come from the social media post referred to above. And, as you say , reported "cautiously".
    • I have taken books to the Oxfam book shop in Herne Hill in the past and found they had a limit on how many bags they would accept from one person, so worth checking in advance if they have any current restrictions, don't want to lug a heavy bag out of the car and be told they won't accept. I was able to park nearby - in the side street on the other side of the road, but I do know it's luck of the draw how far down that street you have to go to get a space.
