Hi guys, I know this has been posted before but Herne Hill Velodrome is hosting the inaugural South London Grand Prix tonight with world class riders. There are many riders racing today and tomorrow who will be at the World Championships representing their country in a couple of weeks. The added bit is tonight, at 6pm, the Velodrome will be presenting Jim Love, one of the few 1948 Olympian cyclists who rode at HHV, with a special momento. Jim and special guests will be unveiling an Olympic plaque to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the Velodrome being used for the London Olympics.

There is food, drink and a very special atmosphere. Also youth riding at 5pm. Hopefully it will be a fun couple of evenings with racing from 3pm. Ticket info on the link.

    • I haven't had a rude EVRI delivery but last week I had an unexpected delivery at 10.42 pm. He didn't ring the bell or knock on the door (or rattle the letter flap) but just took a photo and put the box down.  If it hadnt been for the door camera giving us a beep we would never have known there was a parcel ready to sit there all night.
    • Sorry if I’m being slow but there’s no point in having a gate then is there?  Would have thought it was basic manners to respect someone’s property
    • I didn't say wedge it "slightly" open. I meant to wedge it fully open.
    • I have a rescue Spanish greyhound (galgo) from the charity mentioned above. You can contact Greyhounds in Need or one of the more local Kent greyhound rescue charities. They are fantastic family dogs. They do love walkies 2 or 3 times a day but they actually don't need to be walked too far and then they will happily loaf around on the sofa being very chill. They are brilliant with kids but not recommended if you own a cat as they have a strong prey drive. They also should be kept on the lead in local parks. They prefer to be around other sight-hounds (well my one does) and there are loads of local sighthound owners in Peckham, Crystal Palace etc and a very lively WhatsApp group that is brilliant if you need dog sitting as you can usually find someone to do that for free in return for you looking after the dog at a later date etc.
