Let's not run before we can walk (= your idea sounds like it may require some effort on my part)

No way, shape or form (tautology; v lazy)

F*ck off (when used to mean 'I find that hard to believe')

Funky (now absolutely meaningless due to overuse by product pushers)

I can see I'm going to enjoy this thread; there hasn't been a complainy one for a while...

Is that the Jeremy, 'I love the sound of my own voice' Clarkson. Yes I can't argue with that Ms B but I'm sure there are many who would vehemently disagree.

Yeah no I was just starting my fourth sentence with yeah no......

We gave it a hundred and ten per cent..........

Getting a pubic hair stuck between my teeth, makes me want to spit.

Hair wrapping around my fingers, whilst swimming with long haired specimens not wearing swimming caps, when they are as cheap as chips.

Those lazy disgusting riff-raff who are too damned idle to shower before entering the pool.

Sorry I digress they are actions not words and phrases.......doh!

Whole other thread you could start there Steve... The Simmering Swimmer, perhaps?

Oh, and 'Have you got a Nectar card?'

No, because I have a horror of receiving direct marketing based on previous buying patterns ('Dear Ms B, this month if you buy 4 boxes of euphemistically named feminine hygiene items, you can get a family pack of Maltesers and a TV guide absolutely free.')

Would the fact that they sponsor 'Loose Women' make it more or less desirable?

Well spotted, now fallen into the hands of the least 'funky' eedjits in the world.

surreal for things that are not surreal, just strange or unexpected.

I thought I was alone on finding it annoying until I saw this, courtesy of buggie, by Adam Hills

The same goes for literally followed by something metaphorical or otherwise non-literal.

    • I don't know how it works now but my late parents had little money when they were retired (just state pension and they rented their flat) and they used to take their cat to the Blue Cross (In Victoria if I remember correctly) where treatment was free for those who could'nt afford a private vet. I sincerely hope similar is available still because for many elderly their pet is their main source of comfort and company.
    • In a couple of places locally, I have come across this. I am fairly sure that they attempt to do the bill in their head. If you just say , “no, I think it’s x” they start again and get to an agreeable number, or find a calculator. I don’t think it’s a malicious attempt to swindle people. Just not great arithmetic.
    • There are excellent charities like the Greenwich Wildlife Network who will help if you report any concerns with local wildlife. Foxes are wonderful creatures who had been forced into our town and cities and are just doing their best to survive, we should take care of them when we can.
    • Like I thought… prob like that for most of the day.. especially after people had walked their dogs, with friends, relatives  kids…
